2007 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

As any self respecting Monegasque will tell you, Monte Carlo is the part of the principality that is the sparkling diamond on top of the gold ring.  A famous casino, as well as an American car, are closely associated with this familiar name, and reflect opulence, quality and wealth.  And hold the long standing home to Formula 1 racing which takes place through the streets of the city.

For consignment, a one owner 38,974 title verified mile 2007 version of the bowtie classic Monte Carlo SS.  This one with the most powerful engine which is in 5.3L LS4 V8 form capable of producing 303hp and 323lb-ft torque.  Can you say torque steer?  This is the last year of production for the venerable Monte Carlo.

Exterior
Cobalt Red bathes the panels of this car which are straight but do display invasive rust on the passenger's rear quarter panel arch as well as what may be rust coming through or poorly done repairs on the driver's rear quarter arch.  The paint presents nicely with a good shine and a silver band on the bottom of the entire circumference of the car.  Aero inset headlights and a dual inlet neoprene bumper led the way.  A 2 door hardtop that has black trimmings around tinted glass, a sunroof, chromed SS badges and a rear spoiler on top of a high roomy trunk design.  Dual exhaust out the back and 18-inch wheels and we are ready to go racing'

Interior
In lieu of climbing through the window to gain entry, (just like those Nascar guys do!), I swung the wide door that has black shapely molded panels that form the basis for the actuator power locks, power windows and mirror adjustment wheel toggle.  An inset speaker and a lower storage area is noted as well within all this curvaceous design.  Inside are 2 nice wide high bucket seats with headrests and covered in nicely preserved black leather.  In the center is a molded rounded console with a glove box/armrest and shifter housing.  More sculpting with plastic panels and padded vinyl as it moves up to the original dash, where here we see the temp controls and digital radio.  The instruments are neatly organized in front of the driver and are circular format.  Within the steering wheel are radio and cruise control buttons for hands on operation of these functions.  Also voice activation is available.  In back a very sporty 2 plus 2 rear bench also in black leather has a nifty fold down central armrest.  Clean black carpeting floods the floors, and above is a tight headliner.

Drivetrain
Under the hood in the nicely detailed and clean engine bay is a 5.3 Liter LS4 V8 mill.  It has EFI and a 4T65E 4-speed automatic transmission attached.  It exhales through dual outlet exhaust, and for the axle we weigh in at 3.29 ratio.

Undercarriage
Having a look at the underside I see floor pans where some factory overspray is noted on the spare tire trunk floor bump out, and floor pans are all good.  Independent coil springs are on all 4 corners as are power disc brakes.

Drive-Ability
She fired right up and off to the test track I flew.  Nice acceleration from the 5.3 lirwe, good bias free panic stopping, and excellent handling.  All functions worked perfectly.

A low mileage edition of the 5.3 liter LS4 Monte Carlo SS.  All in Cobalt Red with some silver accenting around the bottom.  Leather interior and tinted glass for this last hurrah of the Monte Carlo.
