1963 Ford Falcon Futura Sedan

The Ford Falcon was an automobile which was produced by Ford from 1960 to 1970 across three generations.  It was a sales success for Ford initially, outselling rival compacts from Chrysler and General Motors introduced at the same time.  The television marketing for this model featured the first animated appearances of the characters from Charles Schulz's acclaimed comic strip, Peanuts, with announcer contribution from Paul Frees.

This car, an early renowned "compact", appealed to the families who would use it as everyday transportation or as a second car.  Accordingly, the car's design adopted a modern styling theme that features excellent proportions and minimal trim.  We have for consignment, a well-preserved car that is about as close to factory original as it can get and turns heads and wins trophies nearly everywhere it goes.  Mostly original paint, a clean interior, and some snappy wheels, (no fretting for the purists, as the original wheels, correct tires and factory wheel covers are included), make this skate stand out from in a crowd.  With our consignor going through down-sizing to open up space in his garage, it's a sure fire win for you! 

Exterior
At the front of this sedan, a simple chrome bumper centers two amber parking lamps below bright headlights and a straight aluminum grille with black horizontal dividers.  Above that grille, a sculpted hood hangs minimalist “FORD” lettering between classy gunsight fender toppers, a chromed hood scoop, and like-new glass that's framed in straight stainless trim with mirrored stainless wipers.  A correct chrome mirror and traditional chrome door handles perfectly complement great looking Rose Beige paint which is looking fab overall and is appearing mostly original.  On back are the Ford jet engine style round taillights and the FALCON name plate done in single chrome lettering.  Nice shiny bumpers adorn the fore and aft, and the stainless side spear with the Falcon logo runs down both sides.  15-inch Ansen Sprint polished aluminum slot wheels are wrapped in like new blackwall rubber from the 35th week of 2022 and our consignor is including the original wheels, wheel covers and correct tires to make this grocery getter look factory fresh.

Interior
An all original split bench front seat and matching rear bench are in superior condition.  These are in black vinyl with tuck and roll inserts and smooth bolsters with white piping delineating the patterns and are the material the car was born with.   Black carpeting covers the floor, and the Falcon dual bumped up dash in black and highlighted aluminum set into a black field displays the necessary analog gauges.  Residing atop the dash is a padded vinyl topper and in front of the driver a black leatherette wrapped wheel resides so you can spin the black steering wheel to your heart's content, as well as push on the half circled chromed interior horn rim, because these are excellently preserved and clean.  A factory AM radio is seen and above all of this is a white headliner, nice, tight and unmarred.  As for the door panels, black steel dances with black stitched vinyl all the while being outdone by the sweeping aluminum insert and black padded armrest.  A shout out to the trunk which is covered with original factory checkered plaid vinyl in excellent condition.

Drivetrain
A 170ci inline 6-cylinder engine is seen under the hood.  This is in beautiful condition with jet black engine bay, block, and supple wires and hoses.  It is topped with an orange valve cover which is excellent, and an orange air cleaner cover that has a 1-barrel carburetor underneath feeding the inline 6-cylinder.  2 speeds for the column shifted Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission to make it go, and it pushes power rearward to a 3.20 axle.

Undercarriage
Clean, mean, and black underneath with the original but patined undercoating showing on nearly every surface.  There is minimal to no surface rust to even be seen here and very little road dirt.  Presenting not only very nicely, but also very simply we can see independent coil springs for the front, and leaf springs for the back, and drum brakes for all 4 corners.  All mechanicals underneath the vehicle are in very good condition and make it worth your while to gaze at the underside photos to get a real appreciation of this car.

Drive-Ability
Off to the grocery store for this Falcon, it started right up, and ran like a dream come true.  Good acceleration, smooth automatic shifting, and the interior was very comfortable and roomy.  Since this car has an AM radio and reception in our test track valley is sparse, I had my cohort sing to me as we motored along the test track, but the radio did indeed turn on and receive static.  All functions worked well and frankly this car is akin to a trip back in time with its simplicity and ease of operation.

Lovingly cared for over the years, the pride shows in this awesome example of early Ford candy for the masses, way before the jellybean plastic econoboxes offered today.   An original car, that is priced right, and is getting ooohs and ahhhs before it even hits the showroom floor.  Is this classic in your future?  It should be because it's a great survivor.
