Model A Street Rods are probably the penultimate body style for the genre. A builder has access to thousands of reproduction and original parts, and aftermarket chassis that have bolt on capability can facilitate even the novice put together a show-car.

A northern Pennsylvania car that came to the consigner via a set of unfortunate circumstances with the previous owner's situation, mainly no access for a pre-determined period of time, to the outside word. This created a car in a garage that needed some TLC, and voila! The current consigner loaded all the individual parts on to a flatbed, brought it home, and began the process. What you see is his interpretation of the ubiquitous Ford Model A, with an added twist.

All the existing sheet metal exterior parts that were still with the car had no rust, and unbelievably no dents. So these were utilized in the rebuild. Some reproduction parts were mixed in as well as creative use of trucks fenders. This menagerie was all bolted on to a Brookville Roadster frame, and the resulting efforts are on full display here. Coca Cola Red, with silver metallic flames all gussied up with this beautiful paint job. The little extra attached was a brainchild of necessity, mainly we need space for our chairs, luggage, food, and all the other accoutrements that go along with a road trip. A 1940's original coke cooler was fashioned to a typical trailer frame, a custom box added in front, topped off with some Cadillac brake lights, and a custom bumper and the rad road now has instant cargo stowage. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.

An original metal dash is topped off with a custom wood oak oval instrument cluster. An aftermarket rally steering wheel shows an innovative way to mount it to the dash...with a piston rod, and why not? The tree shifter is topped off with a black die for whimsy. Various other conveniences are seen on the dash, even down to a custom wood cup holder. Stitched vertically tufted buckets with plain black bolsters make up the comfort zone in the occupants compartment. Again the vertical tufted motif repeats to the door panels, and rear storage surround. Black carpeting in very fine condition floats under the buckets, and in the rear floor compartment. Power windows are seen added to this creation, as well as a stereo, and digital CB radio to detect “Smokey” ahead on the beaten path.

An Edelbrock intake manifold with a 4-barrel carburetor feeds a 350ci mill. Stainless headers evacuate all engine spent gases quickly, and flow through a new exhaust system with open side pipes which protrude from under the running boards. All this is driven by a TH350 tranny, as well as brought to a halt by front disc and rear drum hydraulic braking.

All in all a beautiful presentation which has some whimsy with plenty of functionality. A complete rebuild for the car and trailer, all with matching paint, and fenders, as well as pure style, topped off with performance and reliability. Isn't that the definition of modern day street rodding?
