1967 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster
1967 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster
Sting Ray (two words) was first used on the 1963 Corvette and remained throughout the C2 generation. The C3 debuted in 1968 without the Sting Ray name, but it reappeared on the fenders of the 1969 model as one word, Stingray. It would remain there until 1976.
For consignment from an ultra-passionate consigner who got plenty of enjoyment from this Corvette, even searching for it originally, was a very selective process prior to choosing this particular one. A beautifully preserved Sting Ray with a Black Vinyl removable hardtop among other very beautiful things, this is one of the nicest Vettes to grace our halls here at Classic Auto Mall, and we have a lot of them right now!
Rally Red which I can add is a truly beautiful paint job nearly perfect respray, with a Black “Stinger”/ big block hood scoop that is a reproduction, shark like “gills” as side intakes on the front quarter panel, and showroom chrome. A factory optioned side piped car, they just add gleam to the rockers. The shark nosed and pointy rear are classic in this Zora Duntov influenced designed car. Ultra clean wheels with deep dish trim are wrapped by thin line Cooker Classic radial tires all around. Underneath the hardtop is a very good condition black canvas convertible top.
Pristine Black vinyl buckets sit in front of a dual “eyebrow cowling” dash which includes perfect condition embedded gauges on the driver's side, and a curved glove box on the passenger. These flank a center vertical pillar that houses a large clock, airflow knobs and a vertically mounted Corvette radio/Cassette player. Moving downward and between the seats, the console houses a Competition Plus Hurst shifter. Fronting the dash is a replaced steering wheel that is covered in teak. A note the buckets have been fitted with original shoulder harnesses that were once removed. Like new black carpet covers the floors and has Corvette floor mats above it.
A numbers matching HT RPO L79 327ci V8 with a Holly 4-barrel carburetor atop, and a Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission in back, puts power to an AM 3.36:1 rear.
An extremely clean, even sporting a shine in some areas, undercarriage is seen all underneath this car.
The passion and pride of ownership this consigner set out to produce his perfect vision of the '67 Vette. Some replaced parts, and engine and transmission rebuild, a new convertible top, the additional hardtop, reproduction big block hood, and other small upgrades, make all the difference on this car. All original parts have been retained, as well as extensive documentation of the whole process from buying to now consigning, but honestly the way this car shows and goes, I would not change a thing. Why mess with perfection?
