2001 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

The Corvette crossed flag logo originally started out by using an American Flag, crossed with a checkered flag. Federal law prohibits the use of the flag in any advertising, so they had to come up with another flag. Chevrolet being of French origin, they decided to use at the French symbol for peace, the Fleur-de-lis, with the checkered flag. Over the years it has gone through many iterations, but the basic principles still exist.

Exterior
Bathed in Dark Navy Blue Metallic, all panels are straight and true, and the gaps are good, as expected for fiberglass. There is a removable center roof panel that covers from the swept back windscreen to a roll bar that has the curved rear glass on the other side of it. We note a much more rounded design, almost bulbous for this generation, with indented side panels with an air intake in the front quarters. Standard polished aluminum wheels are all around, and 4 sweet sounding chromed exhaust pipes exit center stage in the rear.

Interior
Utilizing a combination of RPO 921 or Light Oak leather, curvaceous buckets are form fitted to the driver and passenger and sit in front of a black dash which is showing the same undulating curvature, all the while housing key analog but backlit instrumentation. A digital odometer reads 25,539 miles and is title verified to be original, putting this car in low mileage clocked territory. Other features seen are an AM/FM/CD player radio, power windows, power locks, climate control, an active handling mode button, and a heads-up display. A large darker version of the Oak Tan is seen in the carpeting which floods the floors, and the rear storage area, accessible with the large curved glass pane lifting.

Drivetrain
An electronic fuel injected 350ci V8 is attached to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission.

Undercarriage
I could use the word showroom here and for an undercarriage even with low miles one sees some signs usage, however this undercarriage is pristine. Independent suspension and power disc brakes are seen all around.

A low mileage well cared for and maintained C5 that runs like a clock is in overall very nice condition and performs as expected. With 350HP for 2001, the Corvette was making a comeback from the emissions regulation years, and this one is shining example.
