1975 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

1975 Chevrolet Corvette

A few items of trivia to start the presentation: quiet please!! In 1951 a group of Harley Earl's "Special Projects" crew began work on a GM sports car. Bob McLean designed a general layout for the car which was originally code named, "Opel." William Durant, the founder of GM, said a wallpaper pattern he saw in a Paris hotel in 1908 inspired the bow tie logo. Supposedly, he ripped off a small piece of it and brought it back to Detroit. Myron Scott, at the time Chevrolet's Chief photographer, is credited with coming up with the Corvette name, drawing from the small, fast warships of the "Corvette" class. The Jaguar XK120 is believed to have been the inspiration for the first Corvette.

And now we present, from way back in 1975 a morsel of Corvette history in the flesh, a Chevrolet Corvette! Drum roll please!!!

Exterior
Originally draped in Medium Saddle Metallic, and now long since covered over with menacing black, this curved 'Vette is also peppered with pin striping, red to be exact, which highlights the fenders, and adds a flourish to some badging. The removable T-tops are in smoked black and are in contrast with the polished and chromed deep-dish wheels with Corvette hub caps. Also highlighting the black is a luggage rack on the rear deck, and a set of snaking, snarling, chromed side pipes that rest against a curved stainless rocker panels on each side. Fiberglass presents well, and paint is in good to very good condition. A chromed windshield molding, and dual high mount rear view side mirrors are mounted on the doors.

Interior
Leather buckets and a leather covered console all in black show some folding and patina but are in nice condition. Padding remains firm, and the seats keep their original line. An original dash, save for an aftermarket radio, stares the driver in the face with numerous gauges and other bells and whistles to keep even the most tach savvy occupied (all be it in analog form!) The dash is mostly unscathed, and carpet shows slight wear, and needs a good cleaning. Removable T-top panels are good, with no cracks or dings.

Drivetrain
A 350ci V8 with an Edelbrock intake manifold, and single 4-barrel Holly carburetor is backed up by a Borg-Warner Super T-10 4-speed manual transmission.

Undercarriage
Mostly rust free, clean patina undercoated, best describes this area. Structurally sound, and good shape in known problematic 75 Corvette areas (we have history on this stuff now!)

And there you have it…call me a sucker for this model year and it's the shape of the rear...actually it's the shape of the entire car. It has beautiful lines and the best proportions, but that is just one man's opinion. A nice driver with consigner stated 58,898 miles. The A/C is not working.
