1981 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

1981 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

1981 was the first year Corvettes were ever produced in two factories at one time. The new Bowling Green, Kentucky plant produced its first Corvette on June 1, 1981 while the St. Louis plant was producing its last Corvettes. The last St. Louis Vette was produced on August 1, 1981. All St. Louis Corvettes were painted with lacquer paints while the new Bowling Green plant had a brand new paint facility and used enamels with clear top coats. 1981 was the last year a manual transmission was available until late in 1984 with the C4.

For consignment we offer a St. Louis made car, with a consigner stated 47,292 miles clocked on it. An overall fairly clean car, showing some wear areas and a little staining on the interior carpets/ seats. The exterior presents in good condition, and the car has the removable roof panels which are smoked glass.

Exterior
A nice maroon over silver combination with the delineation being the belt line. This is a cool side piped car, with correct badging, a small spoiler flair on the rear, and polished steel wheels which have fake knockoff hubs. Goodyear radials wrap the wheels and are noted on all 4 corners.

Interior
A spaceship like silver leather wraps Michelin man-esque buckets which are amazingly comfortable. The driver's side seat is showing some discoloration. and may be able to be cleaned to match the passenger side. These buckets flank a center console which has a matching puffy silver leather glovebox cover, plus houses the automatic gear selector, power window controls, then gently rolls up into the dash. Here we see an AM/FM/8-track player (knarly) which has a cassette adapter. Scanning our eyes upward we note the radio, climate controls, and the cluster of monitoring gauges, with the air vents. Looking sideways are the analog tach and speedo. The dash is fronted by an original steering wheel wrapped in silver leather.

Drivetrain
A 190hp 350ci V8 which is fed by a Rochester quadra-jet injection system and is backed by an automatic transmission. The engine bay presents in overall clean condition and shows little corrosion and some patina surfaces.

Undercarriage
Very typical of a well-kept/garaged car from 1981 with 47K original miles on it, with no rust or structural defects. It appears to have all the original equipment suspension wise, and brake wise.

This is a nice used 'Vette for the enthusiast who wants to enter the Corvette game for a reasonable price. 1981 Corvettes have been fairly soled noted s=cars, and are sought after by the person who likes the body style from the early 1980's. It is a nice color combination and the interior screams early 80's with its silver seats.
