1955 Ford Fairlane Skyliner

1955 Ford Fairlane Skyliner

Now part of the top-of-the-line Fairlane series, it was twinned with a steel-top prestige hardtop coupe, the Crown Victoria, which had a streamlined roofline and a bold chrome “tiara” in the B-pillar location; however, much of the novelty had worn off. Just 1,999 were built, making the model a coveted prize today. The Skyliner was carried over into 1956, but only 603 found customers. For 1957, the Skyliner name was applied to the new retractable hardtop convertible, and “Crown Victoria” went into remission until 1983, when it came to represent a top tier of the LTD series.

A barn find plain and simple, this rare Fairlane has avoided the crusher, and now is for sale “AS IS”.
Take a close look at the excellent photos provided, and you will be able to see just what you are up against. It was towed in and can now be viewed in our newly debuted BARN FIND CORRAL, outside of our main showroom during regular hours.

Exterior
Slight shades of Snowshoe White, and Tropical Rose still remain on a mostly patina, and rust paneled body. The Crown Victoria transparent top is on this car, and shows some cracking and age fading. The roof brite work is present however the side panel trim is missing. Hood ornament and grille is there but in serious need of a restoration. The trunk is showing areas of heavily invasive rust and locking and latch hardware is gone. Wheels are in fair condition, and 2 hubcaps are missing. Rocker panels are showing exterior surface rust, and more extensive rust invasion form undercarriage in this area.

Interior
The shell of the interior is devoid of any hint of seating. Original seating in poor condition is available with this vehicle if someone wants to replicate the original, which was white and magenta vinyl. The original dash is present, and houses most all of the original gauges, knobs and buttons. Floor shows invasive surface rust, and it is extensive within this interior space.

Drivetrain
A 272ci V8 2 barrel is noted with the pop of the hood. This will need to undergo a total restoration and rebuild in order to run. Original transmission is attached however it is not known exactly which transmission was put in.

Undercarriage
Despite seeing rust everywhere, you may look underside this car, frame and structural parts are invasive rust free. This cannot be said for the wheel wells, the underside of the rockers, and other body panels which are exposed to the underside.
