1991 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

1991 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Myron E. Scott went to work for Chevrolet in 1937, as an assistant director for the Public Relations department, where he was responsible for photography of new cars, designing of press kits, graphics, and special events. He was also known for being the creator of the All-American Soap Box Derby. After winning a contest with 300 submissions, Myron thought the name Corvette rolled off the tongue well and thought a tie to the fast strike ships called "Corvettes" from World War II would appeal to the American men, many who had served. This would go on to form the foundation for the nautical names that would be applied to Corvettes and concepts such as the Mako Shark and Sting Ray (later to be used as Stingray).

For consignment a nice example of a 1991 Convertible Corvette. Only a 3-owner car, with 8,887 original miles! Car retains original belts, and hoses as well as original tires. The tuned port fuel injectors were redialed in 2008 with 7,160 miles. The car was never out in the rain during his ownership and has been stored in a wood floor, climate-controlled building since purchased in 2008.

Exterior
Menacing Black covers this car's exterior and is in showroom condition showing little aging. A very nice canvas convertible top moves up and down with the flick of a switch and has a clear rear plastic window. Badging is all correct and has working hidden headlights. Standard saw blade polished chrome wheels are noted on all 4 corners.

Interior
Near perfect Black carpet floods the floors, and the back trunk area, and it is a deep, deep black, in very good condition. Black floor mats protect this carpet. Dark gray cloth buckets showing as original and pristine, flank a dark gray center console/storage unit. This also houses the shift lever for the automatic transmission, climate control, AM/FM Cassette, and a data center with a screen to display information regarding gas mileage, service warnings and other key components of the car. An analog cluster of gauges flank an orange LCD display which shows mileage, speed, and doubles as a gas gauge. Controls for power windows, power mirrors, and cruise control are also noted, but have now migrated to the door panels.

Drivetrain
The stout 350ci V8 small block is topped by tuned port fuel injection and is backed by an automatic transmission that shifts smoothly.

Undercarriage
Typical of an 8,800-mile original car, no rust, structurally sound, suspension is clean, and some grease pencil markings from the factory can still be seen underneath.

Atypical of a 1991 model year car, is to be in such a little used condition. Obviously, this car was cared for, and well-kept while not in use. In my humble opinion this would move this car into collector status, and with the pricing as it is, could be used as an everyday driver. Either way, the potential buyer has a long way to go to use up the life left in this Corvette convertible.
