2011 Ford F350 Super Cab 4x4 Long Bed Pickup
“The new 2011 Super Duty endured more torture testing than any Ford before it, including over 10 million cumulative miles on the most test Power Stroke engine ever. A world class team put it through a groundbreaking battery of computer simulations, lab, and real world tests, running it for thousands of hours on end. In extreme conditions. Scorching heat. Bitter cold. Loaded to the max. Up the steepest grades. All to confirm that this truck is far more than the sum of its parts.” From the 2011 Ford brochure.
For consignment, a 2011 Ford F350 Super Cab 4x4 long bed pick up truck with an 8.5 foot Boss plow up front and a contractor bed cap out back. The truck has a title verified 68,413 actual miles. As we write this, winter is on the horizon and if you tell yourself each year that you need an audacious rig to get you and your neighbors cleared out, this F350 is the complete package, and not a bad alternative for daily use with the plow removed.
Exterior
Looking like some kind of official vehicle, this truck and its bed cap are bathed in Golden Bronze Metallic that covers the truck with two stage glossiness. Running boards feature prominently on the side to help you reach the lifted cab that's helped in stature thanks to 17-inch cast aluminum wheels and LT265/70R17 tires serving as this 4x4's shoes. This is a slab sided truck, all business, with the only call outs being a big chrome badge that advertises the 6.7 liter Powerstroke and Ford's 4x4 decal on the bed to further identify the truck. The big chrome grille is obscured by the hinged plow, bright red with some surface rust on the replaceable blades, and auxiliary headlights sitting up high. On back, an ARE cap with locking compartments covers things nicely and in the bed, a slide out storage unit installed to ease access to equipment. Super Duty is embossed on the tailgate which sits just above the massive chrome bumper and trailer hitch. Wide mirrors expand the width of the truck which is in great shape and the only imperfection we found was a scratched ding on a fender flare.
Interior
Tan molded plastic is enhanced with gray forms on the front door panels and lacks materials that can absorb dirt, stay wet, or rip. The half doors to the rear seats are even more basic and clean. Tough tan and gray cloth cover the seats inside where front buckets flank an enormous center armrest/middle seat and console while the back's upright bench provides cozy seating for the crew, the family, or the family pets, and part of the seat bottom opens up for storage. It's all very clean and well maintained. A beefy steering wheel, showing some patina, fronts the dashboard where the color palette of tan and gray continues and houses a simple and practical gauge cluster. A nickel colored center stack keeps with the theme of “big” in this truck and is home to vents, an integrated AM/FM/CD radio, and climate controls. Low pile gray carpet covers the floor and is protected by fitted carpeted mats. Up top, a tan foam formed headliner surrounds the overhead console and large, (of course), visors. There is a backup screen in place of the rear view mirror but we find it is currently not functioning. The large composite side mirrors will come in handy.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, a dusty driver quality 6.7 liter Powerstroke turbo diesel V8 rated at 390 horsepower and according to the brochure, 800 pound foot of torque resides. It's fuel injected and tied to a 6R140 6-speed automatic transmission that distributes power to both axles with electronic locker axles with 3.55 gears. Power disc brakes are supplied at all four wheels.
Undercarriage
A good amount of surface rust occupies the underneath where large, beefy components carry this golden chariot with confidence. Radius arm and coil springs make up the front suspension and robust leaf springs take up the rear. A single exhaust flows through original equipment mufflers before finding its way to the atmosphere via twin tips behind the right rear wheel. We're not seeing any leaks nor grease build up on the belly of the beast.
Drive-Ability
The familiar clatter of a big diesel fills our halls as we roll this purposeful truck onto the test loop where its low mileage proves to be beneficial and results in a truck that runs well, tracks straight, and stops as it should. It's a tall and comfortable cab with all the amenities, except that pesky rear view camera. All other functions in and around the work cab operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
If you have a long driveway, the winters of cursing under your bundled up face cover while you push the snowblower along is over! Your savior has arrived in the form of a big, bronze, powerful truck that will push snow while the heater keeps you warm and the tunes keep you company. Disconnect the plow and enjoy this capable truck on sunny days. Looking for the perfect SHTF bug out vehicle? This one checks that box too!
