1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
Recognized as the first luxury 4-wheel drive Sport Utility Vehicle, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer continues to be as an iconic vehicle for its luxurious options and features. The Wagoneer model was produced under numerous manufacturers from 1962-1991. In 1984 the Wagoneer went to a unibody structure which greatly improved ride and handling qualities.
Offered is a 2-owner, final year of production, 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Purchased by its current owner in March 1992 with just over 2,000 miles, the Jeep has remained local to Lancaster, Pennsylvania its entire life. Always garaged and rarely driven in inclement weather, the Wagoneer served as a third vehicle to be enjoyed for special trips and vacations.
All original paint, faux veneer woodgrain, trim, bumpers, badging, and brite work. Noted for being prone to rust, some paint bubbling can be seen throughout, but is confined mostly to the lower door panels. Additionally, rust can be seen on a few surface seams. A chrome roof rack, and aluminum running boards are attached as well as standard Wagoneer wheels and rims.
Never were children or pets in the vehicle as demonstrated by its beautiful burgundy leather and cloth interior. Cloth inserts and leather bolsters are the theme throughout with front extra-large individual seats and a common armrest seat pad between these seats. The rear seating copies this setup only with a solid bench. Door panels are leather and in matching burgundy. Thick pile carpet covers the floors and the seat backs as well as the cargo area. It is mostly clean and stain free. The dash uses a mixture of faux woodgrain covered areas, black and burgundy plastic, and padded burgundy vinyl on top of the dash. Power windows, and 2WD/4WD switch can take you from standard 2 wheels to all 4 providing traction.
The clean V8 and 3 speed automatic work well together, along with you optioning to go 2 wheel or 4 wheeling. A test drive resulted in a suggested carburetor adjustment and cleaning, as it sputtered a bit, most likely from sitting dormant for a while.
Surface rust is seen, and a potential area of concern would be in particular the driver's side floor pan where it appears more advanced. Interestingly the passenger side seems mostly untouched.
Nothing has been touched on this rare find since new other than general maintenance items. Although showing over 102K miles on the odometer, it is clear that this Jeep has been meticulously cared for over its 28 years of operation. It could easily be mistaken for a 25K mile vehicle. With Grand Wagoneers values continuing to climb in the collector market, this time capsule offers immediate driving and ownership pleasure without time and money consuming restoration costs.
