1934 Chevrolet DC Series Standard Coupe

1934 Chevrolet DC Series Standard Coupe

The fundamental nature of hot rodding has always been a reworking of old parts into something newer and faster.  The easiest efforts of the pioneers who created the automobile strongly resemble hot rodding, because they didn't quite fit the mold.  The great thing about the evolution of hot rodding is: over the past 30 years a vast array of excellent products have continually streamed onto the market.  And presently, anyone with a checkbook and an affinity for going way too fast and looking way too good can build anything from state of the art avant garde to old school cool.

For consignment, no worries, no wrenching on old parts, all in the form of a modern hot rod.  With an Outlaw body, chassis, a massaged and freshly rebuilt engine, and modern conveniences such as A/C and a Bluetooth stereo this car is meant to show, go, and cruise.  A touch of pro street along with black cherry paint on a well sculpted and devoid of chrome fiberglass body, a binder full of build receipts, it's all packaged up and ready for a new owner.

Exterior
The 1934 Chevrolet coupe is already a gorgeous design, and the builder of this car took that beauty a step further with shaved bumpers, custom tail lights, smooth aero style mirrors, and snazzy chrome headlights hanging off of either front fender.  An Outlaw Performance fiberglass body is bathed in deep dark black cherry paint and has almost no flaws.  A twin hinged hood sits atop side panels that have a grayish blue flame job set into scallops in said panels.  All this sits behind a black cherry horse collar style grille shell that is filled with thin stainless ribbing.  Running boards float between the bulbous front and rear fenders and do so with style.  A shout out to the well finished truck which contains a fuel cell that is finished in cream vinyl and surrounded by plush tan carpeting.  15-inch Billet Specialties wheels adorn all 4 corners and are wrapped in like new Hoosier rubber.  Well Done!

Interior
A press of the popper button on the remote and the door swings open inviting us into a very modern appearing cream hued interior.  Smooth vinyl in cream covers the doors and is broken up by diagonal insets.  A padded armrest holds the power window controls and an aluminum door handle floats above.  An all wood steering wheel sits on top of an Ididit tilt steering column and fronts a Wabbits WoodWork custom dashboard.  This dash is finished as walnut and holds an array of VDO white face gauges that monitor all vital functions along with holding a Vintage Air heat and air conditioning controller.  An overhead console, also courtesy of Wabbits WoodWork, floats on the ceiling and holds an AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo.  Twin cream colored leather buckets provide comfortable seating and have adjustable headrests for different height drivers.  Desert tan carpet floods the floors and is in splendid shape thanks in part to the color matched floor mats.  The only disruption in this flawless carpet is a Lokar shifter growing from the center, just in front of the seats.  All wrapped up and ready for comfort here!

Drivetrain
Tilting the hood to one side we are reminded of the definition of bling.  A rebuilt Chevrolet 350ci V8 engine fills the space between the hood sides and is dressed out in various forms of polished aluminum, stainless and chrome.  It features a Comp Thumpr cam which is a hydraulic roller with .513 lift and 227i/241e duration at .050. The heads have been worked including the bowls, new valve guides, Proform roller rockers, and ARP rocker studs.  This engine work was done in 2023 and yielded 470 horsepower on the dyno.  A mirrored firewall adds depth to all this shine and makes it appear to go on for miles.  This mill is topped with a 4-barrel intake manifold and Holley carburetor to feed it the necessary fossils.  A 700R4 4-speed automatic sends power back to the narrowed Ford 9" rear axle.  All buttoned up and shiny like a diamond here!

Undercarriage
An Outlaw chassis provides the basis for everything down here, steel, black and clean as a whistle.  Independent front suspension with adjustable coil overs are on the front while bringing up the rear is a ladder bar system that also has adjustable coilovers.  Power disc brakes are on front and power drums are on the rear and the consignor states new calipers, pads, and hoses were recently installed.  Headers sent spent gasses through glasspack style mufflers then in and out of resonators before exiting out the rear of the car.

Drive-Ability
A pop of the door and a twist of the key and I'm in street rod heaven.  The V8 has a great rumble but not so much as to drown out my favorite tunes.  Taking a tour around the often imitated but never duplicated Classic Auto Mall test track I was cool as a cucumber and my ears had a perfect mixture of exhaust notes along with tunes on the radio.  Power was astounding, shifting smooth, and braking was exceptional and bias free.  One issue with most street rods is lack of interior room and comfort, this car has that problem solved and then some.

A well sorted, well thought out hot rod that will let you cruise in style and comfort.  All the creature comforts of a modern car while retaining the look and style of days gone by.  Beautifully contrasting dark black cherry with a cream interior, Billet Specialties wheels, and a lack of chrome make this a cherry prime for the picking and with no need to worry about the pits.  A binder of receipts, dyno sheet, and build sheet will be included with sale.
