1995 Nissan 240SX Coupe  

The 1989 to 1998 Nissan 240sx began as fairly common cars but was never imported in huge numbers.  In the 90's only a few thousand per year were destined for the U.S. with the exception of 1995, when more than 25,000 made it over.  Years later as drifting gained momentum, 240's were seen as one of the better models to convert with nice balance and rear wheel drive.  To see one on the road today is a rare occurrence, a very few exist in stock configuration. 

For consignment a modified 1995 240sx coupe, which was the only body style available as the rare 1994 convertible was discontinued.  This example sports the Kouki appearance upgrade from later models that includes a sportier front fascia, side skirts, rear valance and other items.  It's got a monster turbo charger helping to feed the 2.0 liter SR20DET engine and though it looks the part, our consignor states it's never been tracked or drifted.

Exterior
Aspen White paint is gleaming and bright on this car and the color is virtually uninterrupted by unnecessary emblems, side molding, stripes, or anything else that would distract from the clean appearance.  Projector headlights are also part of the Kouki package and appear to be present here.  The taillights have extra wide gray trim and the huge exhaust tip points up and out in true tuner fashion.  18-inch XXR SportMaxx wheels in argent gray complete the clean look and are wrapped in 235/40R18 in front and 255/40R18 in back.  The consignor states these tires will need replacement soon and after hitting the test track with this missle we agree!  The car sits lower than stock and the fenders hug the top of the tires.  The windows are tinted which always adds to the clean lines and the white spoiler provides an aggressive look.  There are few flex cracks on that spoiler, and we note one of the front markers is missing a chunk of lens.  The car's wipers have been removed. 

Interior
Nothing has been modified on the door panels as the plastic molded black base contains a charcoal cloth insert, looking very clean and stock.  Factory charcoal cloth bucket seats are present in good shape and the small rear seats are made of the same material.   Some extra cushioning has been added to the stock steering wheel with a slip on grip.  The standard white gauges look great and a Prosport backlit turbo boost/vacuum gauge has been added to the A-pillar.  The center stack houses the heater and AC controls and an AM/FM/CD radio with Apple/Android compatibility and a touchscreen.   The AEM ECU is in the passenger footwell and the clean, stock shifter is wrapped in a black leather boot.  The low pile black carpet is in great condition as is the gray headliner.  The trunk is unlined, and the battery is mounted inside. 

Drivetrain
A 2.0 liter SR20DET DOHC inline four cylinder is under the hood and has forged internals and a large Garrett turbocharger controlled by the AEM ECU.  It is fuel injected and connected to a 5-speed manual transmission headed back to 4.083 gears in the rear.  Power disc brakes are found front and back.  The engine bay reveals the modifications with lots of stainless tubing with red cuffs accompanying the red cam cover and red wastegate.  Very clean and tidy under the hood and definitely car show worthy! 

Undercarriage
Clean and dry underneath with a shiny stainless steel muffler and polished tip taking center stage.  An aftermarket red stabilizer bar is found in the front along with MacPherson struts which are also found in the back making up the suspension. 

Drive-Ability
The consignor told us that the car is scary fast and we're prone to believe people when they say that.  The car fired right up and hit the loop like white lightning.  The shifts are smooth and that big turbo adds quite a bit of punch.  The car handles like on rails and takes turns like a champ, however as noted the car will need tires.  A few notations on non functional front: the horn does not work, the A/C has been removed but parts are there to reconnect it, the airbag light is flashing, and the power mirrors are not working. 

Upon first seeing this car in the photo booth, it definitely hit me with JDM GT-R vibes based on the stance and that Kouki front end.  This is an otherwise mild mannered car on the outside with only hints of the monster build that lurks under the clean hood.  If you're looking for a bit of an import sleeper, this car might just be the ticket you need.  Just be careful with the right pedal to avoid other tickets.
