2002 Ford F150 4x4 Supercrew Pickup

2002 Ford F150 4x4 Supercrew Pickup

Adding several exciting new elements, the 2002 Ford F-150 was introduced with the assumption that it would continue the tradition of excellence that had made the F-150 the best-selling full-size pickup truck for the last twenty-four-years in a row.  Again, it did not disappoint.  Understanding the needs of consumers, Ford engineers sought to resolve the pertinent issues of the day.  Included was a factor that Ford called "Tractive Force".  Optimizing Tractive Force was based on the assumption that "power you could feel" was about more than just horsepower and torque.  It was about having the right engine mated to the right transmission with the right torque converter.  It was about getting the horsepower and torque to the right differential, (with the right gear ratio), where the right size tires and wheels would put them to the ground in the most dramatic fashion.  Offering a better way to get the job done, the Built Ford Tough family of trucks is adding new and innovative options with each new model year.  Among the new features for the 2002 Ford F-150 were a new 7,700-pound payload group as well as the addition of a package geared towards off-roading and the outdoor lifestyle.  It was called the FX4 Off Road Package and it was state-of-the-art.  The luxurious King Ranch Package was now available as a SuperCab ,(instead of SuperCrew exclusively), and two near exterior colors were added to the Lariat.  Electronic Temperature Control, (EATC), was added as standard fare for Lariat and King Ranch trucks and a loose fuel cap warning lamp was added to models across the lineup.

For consignment, and beloved by our consigner, a 2002 Ford F150 Lariat edition with a low low actual miles, 26,836 title verified to be exact and comes loaded to the gills with leather, electronic climate controls, a powerful 5.4 liter V8 and 4x4 capabilities to get you out of any sticky situation you may find yourself in.  Best of all, it comes with the original window sticker and has absolutely no rust to be found!

Exterior
Starting with the smooth hood which is all steel, as is the body, all is bathed in factory Toreador Red Clearcoat paint and just a hint of tan and charcoal with a pinstriped on “spear” trim at the beltline.  This clear coat finish is miles deep, factory applied and shines like a crazy dark red diamond, or should I say ruby?  A black honeycomb style grille and lower matte black air intake show on this truck as standard fare for F150's.  No rust and 4 doors with nicely minded gaps have side steps in chrome tubing.  The cab is the supercrew version with a large tinted glass on the rear doors for the rear passengers to look out of.  Encircling the lowers of the body is silver paint that sets off the Toreador Red perfectly and continues over the wheel arches.  The bed gleams and now shows beautifully with no scratches and just a black rubber floor/bed covering.  The bed is topped with a piston operated Century lockable hard bed covering and is all in matching Toreador Red.  Triton V8 badges are put on in conjunction with the Ford F150 badging, and these are seen on the front quarters and Lariat script in tan is noted on the near perfect tailgate.  Dual exhaust tips peek out from underneath the shiny chrome rear bumper and nice 17-inch wheels and deeply treaded Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires give this truck a great stance and very aggressive truckish look.  A truly beautiful looker and cooker!

Interior
A gaggle of buttons for power conveniences reside within a burl insert and sleek smooth molded vinyl in charcoal gray abounds on the door panel.  More buttons for the seats which are covered in charcoal gray leather and are in high back form with headrests and some tuck and roll for the inserts.  Lariat embossing is within the tops of the chairs near the headrests and both of the front buckets have seat heaters to keep your buns toasted.  In the center is a tall gray console with multiple cup holders and storage bins and in the rear is a like new 3 seat bench.   All weather black rubber floor mats, looking great, are covering clean gray carpeting.  A gray dash houses black face and white lettered gauges and fronting the dash is an original steering wheel with more...wait for it…buttons!  Dash central holds the electronic climate controls, the 4x4 selector dial and the factory AM/FM/Cassette stereo with remote 6-CD changer all surrounded by more burl.  Turning our attention upward we note a tight and clean fuzzy broadcloth headliner that perfectly frames the power actuated moonroof.

Drivetrain
Under the cowled hood is a nifty 5.4 liter SOHC V8 capable of 260hp.  The mill is fed by EFI, and on the back is a 4R70W 4-speed automatic with a 3.55 geared Dana rear axle and with a turn of the dial the front axle can be engaged to pull you through nearly anything.  The factory dual exhaust is on for the assist to the exhale, and ends with dual outlets under the rear bumper.

Undercarriage
Full on body and chassis corrosion protection is in all the nooks and crannies of the inner body and frame cavities.  Power disc braking is on all 4 corners as are factory shocks.  Up front is an independent torsion bar suspension and in the back we note traditional leaf springs.  All solid and looking nearly as nice as when it left the Kansas City assembly plant.

Drive-Ability
With the side steps thankfully reaching out for me to step inside I felt fairly flossy when I did so.  Here I cranked 'er up and it ran like a Swiss watch.  Excellent well balanced acceleration, great handling with the large tires and wheels, and all functions working, meaning all these buttons were working swimmingly.  An excellent experience, and the sound from that exhaust is exhilarating!

About as close as you can get to factory fresh and over 20 years old showing with no rust.  Super low miles, beautiful paint, and looking exactly as it did when it rolled off the showroom floor.  All buttoned up and now I have a soft spot for this beautiful F150 which is like none other.
