1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4x4

1998 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4x4

The Jeep Wrangler is the direct descendant of the 1940 Willys Quad prototype vehicle that was commissioned by the United States Army and eventually developed into the 1941-1945 Willys MB. The rugged, capable, and cheap MB was everywhere during World War II. At some point, the MB took on the nickname "Jeep."

For consignment, a title verified 127,551 actual mile 1998 Wrangler Sahara that has undergone a full restoration and has some snappy add-ons. Recent maintenance and brush up on some of the mechanicals was also done. Some of which are a Fox steering stabilizer, 3rd brake light, new rear wheel cylinders, front ball joints, Fox shocks, new winch wiring, and new LED headlights. Sing with me: “ Let's get a little mud on the tires.” “Climb every mountain…”

Exterior
White miles deep paint is neatly sprayed on the steel and also ceramic coated for this rust free body, which maintains the factory gaps and displays nicely with the hefty front bumper with an extra protecting grille bar and some pull hooks. A power winch is behind this protective bumper and it's in black like the bumper. Some high power extra lights are on top as well. The lift kit puts this truck way up there, so be thankful that side steps have been added on to help you get in. The truck rides on 15-inch cast and machined aluminum wheels wrapped in new Toyo Open Country 265/75R15 mud slingers. The long running and instantly recognizable Jeep grille leads the way and is flanked by new LED round headlights. The exterior latched hood leads back to the slightly raked windshield which gives support to a straight dark green tinted glass hardtop. Our consignor states there is also a Bimini top, a soft top, and zipper doors for various exterior configurations. Steel doors on the sides, which can easily be removed for that full open air experience add to the Jeep experience. A note to the full-sized spare hanging off the back mount for it, and is ready to step things up should you experience a flat. A hitch mount is on the rear bumper, along with some pull rings on the black bumper. Bali Ha'i!!

Interior
A climb inside and we see cloth making up the high backed curvaceous bucket seats. Smooth dark green broadcloth makes up the seating surfaces which have been fitted with contrasting tan bolsters and show as very clean. Carhartt seat covers come with this climber. The rear bench also shows in the deep green cloth and appears as nearly new. The dash utilizes some black and this mixes with some more tan plastic and presents very nicely. Factory gauges are in and the center is now fitted with a JVC AM/FM/5 inch screen touch tuner radio. A short armed T-handle shifter for the transmission and next to this is another shifter for the 4x4 modes. A tan console is running between the seats. The cabin has a roll bar covered with canvas padded rolls. All floors are covered with clean tan carpeting, even the small rear storage “bed” aft of the rear bench. Very nice overall interior. It's a Jeep thang..

Drivetrain
Under that hood is a factory 4.0L I-6 cylinder being fed air and long gone dinosaurs via EFI. There is a 4-speed automatic attached to the back, and power goes to front and rear axles, Dana 30 for the front and Dana 35 for the back.

Undercarriage
All very clean under here where we run into Independent coil spring suspension, new Fox shocks and a Fox steering stabilizer, so there is no high speed death wobble, which is known to be a problem with these lifted Jeeps. New power disc brakes for the front, and new power drum rear brakes with new wheel cylinders and drums. A Magnaflow muffler system is on.

Drive-Ability
This baby fired right up, ran smoothly, and all 4x4 gears worked perfectly. A bit of a ride, but based on the fact it's a Jeep, things were pretty good. The tires sing a bit when you cruise, and unfortunately the Classic Auto Mall test area does not have anything over 10 feet in altitude to try to climb. Just an A+ build with everything working swimmingly, including the added AC.

A fully built and documented, all good condition Wrangler Sahara Package, complete with knobby Toyo tires, as well as a really nice interior and a hardtop and other tops come along for the 4x4 ride. This truck is ready to take you where no man has gone before, or at least the wilds of this country where you can reach new heights and sing its praises. Go for it, If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
