Everyone oohs and ahhhhh over the first gen Camaro and rightfully so.  It is definitely a classic and collectable.  However if you want to get in on the rising curve of the collectable market, you should seriously look into the 2 generation of the Camaro.  It has great lines, a V grille and headlights within the quarters that give it a newer look.  Scoring an RS or SS version of can be tricky and you need to watch the market.  Here at CAM, you never know what is coming through the door, adding to the suspense.  Await no longer, a rigging value collectable just drove through our intake door, and is now available.

For consignment, an always garage kept 3 owner 1970 Camaro and a real Z28 to boot, and the restorer did an A-1 job.   A snappy 383ci V8 with some goodies bolted on and put within, a miles deep blue with black painted stripes exterior, and 15-inch Weld Racing wheels, and you will be able to parade up Main Street while in the back of your mind you will be making money.  An investment in the future if you will.

Exterior
With a Mulsanne Blue respray which is the factory correct code 26 paint, this restored car has plenty of spit shine left on the steel.  The exterior gaps are good and panels remain straight with only a few minor chip offs of the finish.  Black painted on racing stripes start at the front of the hood which has taken on a somewhat Trans Am look with an oval V front grille, single headlights and round parking /signal lighting just next to the grille.  A front full across mustache thin and mirror-like chrome bumper highlights the blacked out grille, and all trim remains very nicely preserved.  Starting in 1970, began the years when GM began to change the design of the Camaro, and blurred the lines between a Camaro and a Pontiac, give a gaze to the front of the car and it will pan out!  Not a true “beak” like the Pontiac, but certainly features that resemble each other.  Nice window trimmings frame tinted glass and the back of the car lowers in a gentle slope and ends in a rear spoiler.   Bringing up the rear of the car are dual round tail lights and a solid bumper with a dip in the center to frame the bottom of the license plate.  More black striping is seen racing from the front of rear glass to the top of the tail light panel. 15-inch polished Weld Racing ProStar wheels are wrapped fat and skinny Mickey Thompson blackwall radials and are 26x6.00-15's in front, and uber sticky 275/60R15's in back dated from 2010 and 2013 respectively.   No runs, no drips, no errors on this beauty.

Interior
A swing of the doors is akin to a small time travel jaunt allowing us to breathe in the early 70's originality.  The black textured background around the round sunken in gauges are immaculate and a padded black dash top frames the top.  Moving to the center we note the factory AM radio and for the passenger, an under the dash glove box with a shiny Camaro badge.  On the carpeted hump between 2 high back buckets covered in vinyl with adjustable headrests is the Hurst 4-speed floor shifter.  These seats come to us with dimple embossed and tuck and roll inserts and smooth blue bolsters.  The doors use a similar smooth blue vinyl pattern, and look like they came right off the factory floor.  Blue carpeting covers the floors, and a rear bench, also pristine, occupies the back of the interior, allowing extra guests to experience the thrill ride.  A tight black headliner is above and a shout to the trunk with its factory applied splatter paint is looking just great. 

Drivetrain
Under the hood in a perfectly restored black painted engine bay is now a shiny consignor stated 383ci stroker V8.  This block carries a 3970014 casting number and is stamped as a CE, (counter exchange), unit.  Within its confines is a fairly radical camshaft and it has aftermarket aluminum heads bolted on the top.  This mill is fed by a single Holley 4-barrel carburetor with an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold.  Bolted to the back is a Doug Nash 5-speed manual transmission.  On the back, the rear tires smoke with the consignor-stated original 12 bolt 4.11 geared rear axle.  Chrome coated headers are on for the big exhale, and free flowing Flowmaster mufflers aid in the expulsion. 

Undercarriage
Independent coil springs for the front and for the rear leaf springs traction bars keep this Mustang eater sure footed and front power disc brakes and rear power drums slow it for the woah.  The black painted steel unibody and stamped floor pans barely have a mark on them, just some light road dirt and patina, and all is structurally solid so you better get a large mirror for shows for this Camaro.   Breathe deep, now exhale!  Woosh…hold on to the Jesus bar.

Drive-Ability
Yes! Yes! Yes!  It definitely drives, it certainly starts, and it offers up plenty of ear candy when the throttle is pushed.  Climbing in is a bit much for this 63 year young writer, but once in it is comfortable, and all is working well.  Definitely an all polished like a shiny blue and black striped apple, eager to give a teaching lesson to a lesser vehicle who dares to step up to the line...but I digress.  On the test track the car showed mind blowing acceleration, adequate handling and apt bias free braking.  Performance aside, a few frowns did creep up during my time behind the wheel.  The clock did not keep time, the radio didn't broadcast and the reverse lights did not illuminate when prompted.  Also, I noted a slight pull to the right while driving and it was necessary to double clutch on the downshift from 3rd to 2nd.

At first glance an original 1970 Z28 Camaro that nearly looks pliable, a sleeper grocery getter.  But if we dig deeper, there is plenty of extra blood, sweat and tears that went into this car on the mechanical front, and if remotely interested, you should have a gander at the specs, or better yet have a seat behind the wheel and experience the raw power for yourself.  Plus, this car has the Protecto-Plate so you can verify this is a true Z28...shall I kick your Mustang ass now, or later?!
