2007 Hummer H3

2007 Hummer H3

The Hummer H3 is an off-road vehicle that was produced from 2005 to 2010 by General Motors.  The smallest model of the Hummer lineup, it was offered as a 5-door SUV or a 4-door pickup truck known as the H3T.  Unlike the larger H1 and H2 models, the H3 was not developed by AM General.  It was introduced for the 2006 model year, based on a modified GMT355 that underpinned the Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon compact pickup trucks that were also built at GM's Shreveport Operations in Shreveport, Louisiana and the Port Elizabeth plant in South Africa.

For consignment, a smaller more manageable version of the Hummer showing as a Hummer H3 from 2007 with 28,824 title verified miles on the odometer.  This is its second year of introduction, and shows nicely as a well cared for and maintained road or off road vehicle.  It has like new tires and sports several convenience options such as power steering, power windows, power locks, leather seating and a power sunroof.  It also has some nifty front grille guard and tinted glass an aftermarket rear view cam has been installed to add to the long list of conveniences with all else being all original.  A Jeep on steroids with the mystique of being a Hummer, (ya know, former military and takes no prisoners kinda vehicle!).

Exterior
A nice coat of ceramic coated in 2023 Sonoma Jewel Burgundy Metallic bathes the exterior panels of this truck.  All of the gaps are well minded and as to the look, it takes from the Jeep but makes it look more like an armored 4x4 due to its smaller tinted windows, squared off smaller fenders, and wide black bumpers with protective black fender lowers and rocker.  This truck has a black roof rack and it goes nicely with the Sonoma Burgundy.  Heavy looking doors and a high stance with its squared off wheel wells allows this vehicle to go through water up to 27 inches deep at 5mph.  Black tubular chromed and step rubber coated running board/step ups are on either side and make entry just a bit easier.  On the back is a large tailgate with more tinted glass and an exterior plastic body matching covered mounted spare.  Another large black bumper frames the bottom and this vehicle has a hitch.  18-inch GM special to Hummer wheels with chromed flat caps are all around and these are covered in Bridgestone Dueler A/T rubber in  265/65R18's blackwall format.

Interior
With its thick bulletproof look on the exterior, the interior takes on a softer look, made for the comfort one would expect on a high end Hummer.  The door panels are black molded plastic with molded armrests, power window and door locks, and a power mirror toggle.  Inside are the power seats where we note front high back buckets covered in black leather for the bolsters and inserts with some white stitching and white piping for the inserts and bolster edges.  The driver's seat shows some slight wear with nicely aged leather folding.  Headrests have black and grey H3 embroidery in their centers.  In back is a full black leather bench with a center jump seat that can double as an armrest and it utilizes the same pattern as the front buckets.  In the center of the buckets is a molded console also in gray with a leather padded armrest.  It has an armrest/storage bin, cupholders and the shifter.  This melts nicely into the center of the dash which sports an aluminum plate behind the large round climate controls and digital radio above.  Just above this is a lineup of buttons which is your 4x4 control mode center.  The dash in front of the driver is under a rectangular hood and has analog sweep gauges in the round with smaller fuel and temp gauges in the center.  A digital readout panel is in the center.  The factory steering wheel is fronting the dash.  Charcoal gray carpeting covers all the floors even in the back seating area.  Above a power sunroof can be noted.  The cargo bay area is lined with tough molded ribbed plastic and the 60/40 back seats can be folded down for more room for tactical gear.  Access to the back storage is through a “safe like“ rear hinged door.

Drivetrain
Under the vented hood sits a perfectly preserved Vortec 3.7 liter I-5 cylinder engine putting out 272hp.  It has EFI, and a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission bolted to the back.  Turning the tires are 4.10 geared axles for front and rear.  Lots of plastic coverings and all very clean in this engine bay.

Undercarriage
A peppering of surface rust is noted. The truck uses independent torsion bars for the front suspension, and leaf springs for the rear.  Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners and the OEM single exhaust is in charge of the exhale.  All solid down below with light surface rust making an appearance on the untreated components.

Drive-Ability
This military grade truck fired right up and off to the test track I went.  It ran smoothly, had crisp shifting and easy steering.  All functions were working at the time of my test drive and with the many conveniences it did not seem like I was behind the wheel of a big 4x4.

A neat little 4x4 that looks larger than life and exudes a high end bulletproof feel for the design, but is more at home on the suburban roads.  Nice exterior paint, very low miles for the age, a very slightly used interior, and light surface rust on the undercarriage.  All in all well maintained and ready to go to war when the sh*t comes down.
