1932 Ford Model B Coupe

1932 Ford Model B Coupe

The Ford Model B was only produced between 1932 and 1934.  It was better than the model A which has its issues, and this Model B was introduced to fix those problems and offer a better performing 4 cylinder engine which was more reliable.  Today it is considered rare as with the advent of the V8 and in 1934 this car quickly went out of style and was forgotten about.  Not near the numbers of the Model T or Model A it was a well built reliable car economical to purchase and run.

For consignment, an original Henry Ford all steel body and fender car now taking the form of a period style hot rod.  The car also has the original bench seat and rumble seat now covered in beautiful tan button and tuck leather.  Licking flames in the front and painted a near flawless arrest me red, we have a winner winner chicken dinner!  Many other features to feast your eyes on including the special power plant so read on my hot rod aficionados.

Exterior
Virtually unchanged from the Model A, (the change was mostly on the engine bearings), we have the usual setup for the era with the central radiator grille cowl and vertical chromed ribbed grille.  The original chromed headlight bar with a V8 logo on its center stretches across said grille and holds a single headlight on either edge.  These are in rounded blunt bullet style casings in red paint and are circular.  The outside also mount to the inside of the wonderfully curvaceous fenders which start at the chrome bar bumper and gracefully undulate and rise to a top English wheel rounded over crescendo, then dive back down to meet the running board.  The cowled and vented side hood and engine cowlings are straight as arrows with very well minded gaps and are engulfed in licking flame airbrushed paint scheme over the deep end of the pool red paint.  These are super hot in front and then thin out and “cool” off as they get to the firewall.  On either edge of the firewall are small round turn  signal lights in chrome casings.  A chrome edged windscreen is nearly vertical and just aft of this the top starts the rounded over roofline.  Seeing it's a coupe, there is no back window on the B pillars, just sexy red roundness and a rounded over flat bottomed rear glass.  The running board picks up where the front fender leaves off and runs back past the suicide hinged doors.  It then greets the rear fender which is another exercise in rounded over curving flaring out at its back bottom part just before the curved chrome lower back bumper.  Speaking of rounded over the trunk, (AKA rumble seat), has a beautiful C curve which moves over the rear fenders and gently lands on the rear roll pan which is also the fuel tank.  A horizontal chromed bar runs through some holders either side of the tank and eventually goes through the bars to form the rear bumper.  Round stalked tail lights hang off of either fender on the near bottoms.  The car rides on 15-inch polished American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and these are wrapped in front by 145SR15's and in back wider 235/70R15's giving a racy look and stance and more rubber to burn into a road surface!

Interior
A swing of the suicide doors gives a chromed sill then the padded tan Austrian leather takes over to cover the panels.  This is just beautiful with a stitched panel custom armrest and some chromed stylish cranks and actuators.  A leather pull is near the chromed sill too.  Inside we can rest assuredly our bottoms on the original front bench in a stylish tub.  This bench stretches from door to door, and is covered in more Austrian tan leather with some tuck and roll with buttons on the seat and back.  Now we can turn our attention to the dash where the steel is covered with a walnut dash cut in that has a machined swirl pattern central instrument panel.  It has a lineup of VDO black faced gauges, some knobs and pulls, and looks fab within the walnut panel.  Noted a rally banjo style steering wheel wrapped in leather with the banjo chromed central ribs.  Nice tan carpeting is on the floors and above is more padded leather for the headliner.  A shout to the mother-in-law's exterior seat as its also covered in leather and in perfect condition so you do not have to feel guilty about putting her out there!  Just don't use the rear window crank!

Drivetrain
Under the hood is the quintessential 350ci setup and the engine has been blinged with ribbed valve coverings, and chromed add ons.  It's been blitzed with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor and of course the Muncie M20 4-speed manual on back does a fine job of spinning a Corvette rear axle.  Headers and a Glasspack exhaust are there for the exhale.

Undercarriage
Up on our lift and we see you'll need a mirror when you purchase this car to show off that pristine undercarriage all decked out more red and shiny black with nary a speck of dirt.  All organized with some chromed front suspension and organized wires, hoses, and lines.   Upfront chromed transverse leaf springs and wishbone suspension and disc brakes and on back a fully independent 5 link system with transverse fiberglass single leaf springs. aluminum upper and lower trailing links and a strut tie-rod assembly with disc brakes on balk.  Say that 10 times real fast! HA

Drive-Ability
As I slipped inside and fired it up I felt like a king on that Austrian leather.  The car fired right up and off to the test track for smoking some rubber and carving some curves to which this car does all good with.  The car has a fully functioning sound system and runs like a champ.  A pleasure to drive and eye candy for the onlookers I pass at high speed.

A very nice all steel Henry Ford Model B, tastefully hot rodded in classic style and all the boxes are checked on this beautiful car.  The bell is ringing, come and get it.
