2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt

Bullitt is a 1968 American action thriller film directed by Peter Yates and produced by Philip D'Antoni. The picture stars Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, and Jacqueline Bisset. The screenplay by Alan R. Trustman and Harry Kleiner was based on the 1963 novel Mute Witness. In the movie there is a nearly 11 minute chase scene in which McQueen rumbles through various streets of San Francisco in a green 1968 Mustang Fastback, and the rest is history.

Ford has made a mini-franchise out of limited-edition Bullitt models that pay tribute to the fastback's film debut in 1968 with Steve McQueen at the wheel. The now-legendary “Bullitt” film came out over 50 years ago on Oct. 15. The fun-loving Mustang has become a personal luxury car that's classy enough to make some Audi or BMW buyers think twice while retaining that tire-smoking exuberance expected of an American icon but mix in the retro Bullitt moniker and there is not mistaking this for your run of the mill GT. With a mere 4,389 actual miles and finished in retro-beautiful Dark Highland Green paint with the upgraded Recaro interior package, Bullitt Tech Package, and Cross Traffic Alert. This 1 of 8,001 purported built Mustangs is in great shape inside and out. All it needs is a new home!

Exterior
Dark Highland Green paint watches over this menacing pony, and covers all surfaces very nicely, with nearly no errors. Devoid of all badging and just a touch of chrome around the egg crate grille opening as well as the faux "Bullitt" logoed fuel filler car on the rear panel adorn the car. Bright HID projector lense headlights in front flank the aggressive neoprene fascia as they show the way as well as a cool galloping horse projected in LED glory as a courtesy light when entering the car at night. Black 5-spoke 19" alloy wheels are attached on all fours and are wrapped by Michelin Pilot Sport summer radials and do a splendid job of showing off the red Brembo calipers both front and rear. We note the menacing chin spoiler, black plastic flared out rocker covers and a rear spoiler delete which keeps the sexy lines extra clean.

Interior
As you step past the pony lighted threshold you enter into an environment that is fit for a jumbo jet pilot including a push button start and some chrome toggles round it all out. The full stitched Ebony cloth and leather Recaro buckets grab you and suck you in behind the wheel. A wheel that has controls for voice command and cell phone, music volume, cruise control, and interaction with the Sync system. Glowing digital gauges guide you through various specifics of performance including the fact that you are most likely speeding! Use the manual seat adjustments to put you in the perfect position. A large screen, upgraded from 4" to 8" Sync 3 above the console allows you to access various media including a 12 speaker premium sound system with Carplay, Android Auto, Bluetooth and AM/FM capabilities as well as the factory navigation. LED rimmed cup holders are just over the top and to make your shifting quick, a factory white ball topped short throw shifter is well within the driver's reach.

Drivetrain
A 5.0 Liter Coyote V8 pumps out 480hp, which is far more than should be allowed at the right foot of this writer. All this power is sent back to the rear wheels through a MT82 6-speed manual transmission and fries the tires via a Torsen limited slip 3.73 geared differential.

Undercarriage
Clean, Mean, and Pristine, with all the latest tech to keep you rubber to road. 4-wheel power Brembo disc brakes, check, high flow dual exhaust, check, 4-wheel independent suspension, check. All looking factory new and fresh down below. And lest we forget the optional Magne-Ride suspension that was added as per the window sticker.

Drive-Ability
With the push of that aforementioned button, the 5.0 liters come to life, and we are off to the test track. Nice power, plenty of good handling, and quick panic stopping were afforded to us during the test drive. All functions were working just perfectly for us. Woooooah, gotta keep those pristine miles low!

This low mileage, 4,389 to be exact, car is just getting broken in. Offered at a competitive price, and only a few years old, this deserves a close look because you can get a lot of muscle for your money. “I want a new drug….one that won't make me sick, one that won't make me feel like I'm three feet thick…BULLITT!
