1973 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

1973 Chevrolet C10 Pickup

Officially named the “Rounded-Line” trucks by GM, the 1973-1987 Chevy C/K trucks were known more casually as the “box-body” or “square-body” pickup.  Sporting a new body style that incorporated rounded corners around the wheel well in addition to a rounded windshield and door frames, the third-generation Chevy C/K trucks had an entirely new look.  Larger and wider, the pickups looked more box-like, which is why they were coined the “box-body” trucks.

For consignment, a fully restored and massively upgraded engine version of the short bed step side C-10 from the bowtie company right out of 1973.  It has a rebuilt 454ci mill which has been worked a bit, a new heater box, new exhaust, new starter and a redone interior.  Throw in a distressed oak lined bed and all solid steel and all will see and hear you coming!

Exterior
The factory grille is like new, and leads the way with the central bowtie badge and single headlight on either corner.  A shiny bumper is below, and a centrally peaked hood is on top.  Front and rear quarters as well as doors all have nicely minded gaps and are all bathed in the beautiful deep end of the pool arrest me red.  Some stainless trimmings edge the top drip moldings and work together with the black window surrounds to heighten the beautiful lines of this truck.  This is a step side bed folks, quite possibly the most beautiful design to ever be installed on a hauler, and it's looking good with its wheel flares and rolled edge tops. The steel bed inside is looking good and it has distressed oak boards with shiny stainless hold downs.  On the back is another shiny bumper and the exhaust pipes peek out just behind the rear wheels.  Shiny rally style 15-inch wheels are wrapped with Mickey Thompson Sportsman ST raised white letter tires on all 4 corners.

Interior
A swing of the doors and we see an interplay of smooth and tufted black molded vinyl that houses the armrests actuators and window cranks.  Below is more red painted steel with some slight louvering.  Moving to the inside, a large black velour broadcloth bench seat stretches door to door and appears in good condition and is all clean.  Upfront, the factory dash with molded black plastic has a textured black insert for the dash front that stretches across the driver's view and includes a full gamut of factory gauges.  Clean black carpeting is inviting me to wiggle my toes in it and on the hump is a Hurst ratchet shifter!  Just above the carpeting and below the dash is an aftermarket AM/FM/Cassette radio residing in its factory home.  Nicely done or should I say re-done!

Drivetrain
A pop of the hood and we almost could eat off of this engine bay and engine.  A red/orange painted block houses 454ci of V8 power.  It was completely rebuilt in 2004 and looks like new only better with the added on bling.  On top is a Weiand intake and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor.  The transmission is a TH400 3-speed automatic which throws plenty of power from the mill to a 12-bolt rear axle.  Just beautifully performed under this hood.

Undercarriage
Solid steel framing and undercarriage floor pans, rockers and toe kicks are seen underneath.  Shiny headers melt together underneath into a dual piped exhaust with Turbo style mufflers, which makes its way down the center.  Independent coil springs with power disc brakes are on front, and leaf springs and power drum brakes are on the back all being operated by a new master cylinder.  All looking just racy underneath.

Drive-Ability
A quick fire up and the high performance engine comes to life X10, (actually C10!)!  Loud and proud she was off to the test track where we put this truck through its paces and it performed beautifully.  All mechanicals are working, and the interior proved to be comfortable and visually appealing.  Talk about making some noise!

This rebuilt to a higher standard short bed step side C10 is a stunner and deserves a serious look if you are a fan and looking for something that no one else has.   Performance out the wazoo, and looks to make you nearly cry, (in a good way), it definitely will take the gold medal for this red fully restored and well-constructed piece of truck bling.  It has won numerous trophies, so put this in your big block dual exhaust pipe and smoke it.
