2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody

2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody

If you ever wondered what would happen if an American muscle car swallowed a furious feline, look no further than the Dodge Challenger Hellcat.  From its debut in 2015, this monstrous muscle car has been clawing its way to the top, leaving tire marks and skid marks on hearts and highways alike.  So, buckle up and hold on tight as we roar through the Hellcat's history, exploring the SRT, Demon, RedEye, Hellaphant engine, and widebody models.  In 2015, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat made its grand entrance, growling and flexing with a supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi producing 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.  This fierce feline was the first production supercharged Hemi from Chrysler and, at the time, their most powerful engine.  The Hellcat became the go-to muscle car for those seeking teeth-rattling power and performance on a budget, offering the most power per dollar of any American car produced.  Achieving a quarter-mile time of 11.2 seconds with street-legal tires and a top speed of 199 MPH, the Hellcat pounced onto the scene with ferocity.  The Hellcat's journey to existence, however, wasn't an easy one.  Chrysler initially turned down the idea of the powerful V8 to conserve money, but the persistent SRT team fought for months until the project was approved.  They created an entirely new development process and built brand new facilities to test and perfect the Hellcat's design.  Little did they know that their efforts would result in one of the most sought-after American muscle cars in history.  -Thx to Xtremecfm.com

In 2019, the Challenger Hellcat lineup expanded to include the SRT Hellcat Redeye, a performance-upgraded Hellcat that took the place of the discontinued Challenger Demon. This model borrowed the 6.2-liter V8 Demon engine, albeit with slightly less power at 797 horsepower.  Additional upgrades included a track-tuned suspension, SRT power chiller, and a reinforced eight-speed automatic transmission. The Redeye was capable of taking on a quarter-mile in under 11 seconds and boasted an impressive top speed of 203mph.  For consignment, a 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody...a powerhouse disguised as a family toter and grocery getter.  Rear wheel drive, check, 797hp 6.2L supercharged V8, check, all the racing and horsepower heritage Mopar is famous for, check.  Add in it being a single owner, title verified 2,542 actual miles car finished in a striking gray hue and bedecked with a few minor modifications, and we have a sure fire winner.  Read on and prepare to have your outlook of sedans changed and your mind blown away by this ultra high performance family sedan!

Exterior
Bathed in its original deep end of the pool Smoke Show, nary a flaw can be found in finish as its coats the diamond chiseled lines of this sedan.  Starting with the very modern neoprene front bumper with its thin SRT badged grille and thin wrap around HID headlights with a pink dressed chin spoiler and louvered inserts below things are getting very muscley here.  Part of the SRT Widebody package is the matte black hood with functional scoop and dual heat extractor panels that runs back to the glass, giving a nod to the muscle cars of yore.  Moving down the long slab sides with a throwback inset C bodylline, the only variations from the all Smoke Show gray theme are a small chrome and black highlighted Hellcat badge on either front fender...oh and don't forget the red eyes on the car, hence the Redeye label.  Exaggerated fender flares work perfectly on this widebody package car and the tinted glass gives not only a cool look but also helps keep other racers from seeing who's at the wheel.  Wrapping up the tail end is a thin and wide body integrated tail light that stretches across the width of the rear of the car, a cavernous trunk with a small black SRT spoiler atop, and another neoprene bumper with cutouts for the dual exhaust to exit.  20-inch Carbon Black lightweight wheels adorn all 4 corners and are wrapped in the factory 305/35ZR20 radials.  We note this car is equipped with the ParkSense rear park assist system and the ParkView rear backup camera as well as blind spot and cross path detection systems.

Interior
Swinging open the driver's door and we are met with a black leather and suede trimmed door panel.  Power window, power lock and power mirror controls are held within as are one of the many speakers for the factory Harman Kardon 19 speaker stereo system.  This theme of colors also appears on the long deep dash with a litany of red highlighted gauges being in front of the Alcantara wrapped and heated steering wheel that contains audio as well as other controls.  The Harman Kardon AM/FM/CD/XM/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto/Bluetooth audio system with Navigation is in the center of the dash within the real carbon fiber dash bezel insert.  Power ventilated and heated front bucket seats with smooth black Alcantar leather bolsters and suede inserts with exaggerated bolsters and SRT Hellcat stitching flank a central console which contains the shifter and multiple storage compartments and again, more real carbon fire.  A long heated bench in the rear stretches door to door and is of the same design as the buckets.  With such low milage and careful car, this interior looks and smells new, as does the black carpet flooding the floors which looks showroom new, meanwhile a black suede headliner hangs above and completes the package perfectly.

Drivetrain
Lifting the scooped hood we see a true powerhouse of this sedan.  The factory installed 6.2 liter 797hp Hemi V8 rests between the Smoke Show inner fenders.  This mill is fed by EFI and bolted to the back of this elephant is a Torqueflite HP90 A8 8-speed automatic transmission.  A 2.62 geared rear axle puts all this power to the pavement with the help of a limited slip unit.  Based on the window sticker this car is equipped with the SRT Power Chiller and an after run chiller.  Our consignor has added a Mighty Mouse PVC/oil catch system to prevent oil entering the engine through recirculated air.

Undercarriage
Showroom new is the best way to describe the bottom of this car.  Suspension is independent on both front and back with Machpherson struts up front and a multi-link with coil springs in the rear.  Our consignor added an Eibach Pro Lowering spring kit and AAD Performance rear control arms.  4 wheel power disc brakes, Brembos with red calipers in the front bring all the horses to a stop.  Dual exhaust feed spent fossils to the rear after passing through the factory installed mufflers.  All buttoned up and looking great with Adaptive Dampening Control, a Line Lock, SRT Configurable Drive Modes, Launch Assist, .

Drive-Ability
It was time to draw straws to see who got the chance to drive this killer sedan and somehow my crack decoder has found a way to thwart my rigged straw game.  A twist of the key and the HEMI roared to life and after slipping the shifter into D we was off to the Classic Auto Mall Test Track.  Here the car had mind blowing acceleration, beyond stellar braking, and handling like that of a European sports sedan.  We returned with all smiles and frankly I felt a bit off and walked a little slower than normal after feeling the stampede of this elephant.

When Dodge came back with the Charger R/T in 2006 and then the SRT we thought we'd seen it all.  Im proud to say we were wrong...the Hellcat SRT Redeye is one serious contender in the modern muscle market with a supercharged Hemi V8, gobs of horsepower and all the modern amenities one could want, this 4-door isn't one to be toyed with.  2,542 miles, 1 owner and tasteful, in this writer's opinion necessary, modifications leave us with a showroom new runner ready to take you out for a night on the town then mop up the competition at the late night drags...It's more than meets the Redeye!
