1962 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster
1962 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster
Restomod (restoration + modern parts/technology) draws from all the amazing advancements in automobile technology over the past 40 plus years to enhance the performance, comfort and safety of the classic car. A restomod car has the timeless appearance of the original, but the outdated guts of the car have been replaced with the more modern, high-performance parts of today. You achieve the same great look, but your vintage car will be revved up with all the latest bells and whistles to create a much better ride for the owner.
This Corvette has been owned and enjoyed by the same owner for 40+ years. When it became evident that it needed some upgrades and repairs, the owner decided to send it to Vestri's Vettes in Lake Elsinore, California. Here it underwent a 28 month frame-off restoration and became a restomod.
Completely stripped and repainted with several coats of Magnetic Red metallic paint, as well as several coats of clear coat. All chrome was gone over and brought back to its gleaming original showroom state. A new convertible top was put on and made to match the Kashmir interior color. This “jewelry” if you will, rides on 17” Budnick custom wheels. The car retains its original 1962 exterior features and look.
Refreshed with all new leather seating in Kashmir color, along with new carpeting, it screams for you to throw open the doors and get in. The dash was stripped and painted with the exterior color, as well as customized on the passenger side with a leather covered “Jesus” bar for more security on the twisting curves! Door panels were covered in Kashmir color leather as well and are seen with vertical stitching, and matching carpeting. Power windows, power steering and power brakes were added. A new retro looking stereo was put in, along with a customized shift lever and shift mounting. Top this all of (or should I say top on) with air conditioning.
Sitting a newly stripped and powder coated frame, is a new GM 400hp, LS2 engine with a GM 4L 609-E transmission. This throws power to a Currie 9-inch positrac 3rd member with a 3:73 gearing. A Jim Meyer racing suspension including Q A-1 fully adjustable coil covers makes up the rear and front suspensions. Drilled and slotted discs are seen installed on all 4 corners. The new mill breathes through ceramic coated headers, and a full stainless steel exhaust system.
A true fully functioning everyday driver if you wish...a true piece of 1962 Chevrolet eye candy. Just driving down the road will have you starring in your own parade, with this show winning combination. The work is all done, just get in turn the key, and experience what back to the future feels like.
