2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302

2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302

The Mustang Boss 302 is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang originally produced by Ford in 1969 and 1970, alongside its more powerful sibling the Boss 429 Mustang.  Ford revived the Boss 302 nameplate for 2012.  The standard 2011 Ford Mustang GT's 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine is enhanced and was referred to within Ford's development teams as the Road Runner engine.

For consignment, a very desirable 1 of 435 built, and one of the most sought after non-competition model Boss 302 from 2013 and the blue oval.  An exceptionally clean example with a proven 44,691 original miles, Grabber Blue paint and a front and rear aero splitter setup on the bottom of this racer.  Some sexy black decal striping, tinted glass, window sticker, Red Track Key, Ford documents and a beautifully preserved interior.  With some tasteful and easily reversible mods, with the original parts included, let's grab"ber" a tour of this car.

Exterior
Ultra fine straight steel panels cover the solid framework of this car, and are all bathed in factory applied Grabber Blue.  Don't be fooled by the mild mannered looks of the Mustang lurking within, (as if any Mustang could be considered "mild mannered") as this edition is built for full on performance.  There are some areas of scuffing, a few chips in the paint, and some black decal chips missing seen on this finish.  A shiny black chin spoiler, (splitter), hood bump black stripe that breaks off prior to the windshield becomes smaller then dives down with 302 badging and runs through the doors horizontally and a tinted rear sloping glass that ends up prior to the trunk lid which stops at a Grabber Blue rear spoiler give the perfect retro feel.  The rear sports the triple iconic Mustang tail lighting and a large galloping horse faux gas filler cap within a glossy black panel.  The lower roll pan has a small splitter for some aero excitement as well.  19-inch black multi spoke wheels have a shiny center hub, and a snappy polished lip and are wrapped in staggered width black wall tires from the 49th week of 2019 and 47th week 2020.  Don't forget the sporty B pillar air vent reminiscent of the earlier Shelbys of yore.

Interior
Inside the passenger compartment, Charcoal Black suede cloth and smooth bolstered Recaro racing seats are installed, and are the center of attention for the passenger compartment.  The sporty dash with blue LCD display instruments fronts these seats, and uses its sculpted lines to show off sportiness throughout the interior.  The gauge cluster is a throwback to Gen 1 of this car with the circular flanking large instruments on either end of the gauge cluster and now a digital center of information displays.  The dash center contains a litany of push buttons for the stereo controls and climate adjustments.  A rear 2+2 seat is installed and 2 more can go for the joyride!  Racing between the Recaro buckets is a black plastic console with an ample glovebox, hideable cup holders and a Barton Racing shifter.  Black carpeting is in nice clean condition, and the headliner above is lookin' great.

Drivetrain
Under the sculpted hood is the heart of the matter in the form of the Boss 302 5.0 Liter Coyote based Roadrunner V8 with EFI.  A PMAS cold air intake is noted, as is a Lund tune for the cold air, along with a MMR crankcase breather system.  A rebuilt Calimer Stage 2 MT-82 6-speed manual transmission with a Exedy Stage 1 Organic clutch is on the back of this buxom mill.  Power gets pushed rearward to a Ford 8.8 inch Torsen differential 3.73 TracLoc rear axle via a Driveshaft Shop aluminum driveshaft.  All buttoned up and very clean under this hood with American Racing long tube headers and the factory axle back exhaust, but now with a catalytic converter delete, (the factory catted pipe is included).

Undercarriage
Simply put, just showroom underneath with factory overspray, aero coverings, racing inspired manually adjustable independent coil spring suspension and a 3 link, coil spring and panhard bar rear suspension which has been fitted with BMR 1.5-inch lowering springs, (original springs included).  Power Brembo front disc brakes and standard power rear discs add the woah factor to counteract the go factor and they have treated to new pads and rotors all the way around.  Factory dual exhaust is on with side outlets as well as the rear mounted chrome tips.

Drive-Ability
A solid runner, good acceleration and steady braking with rail-like handling.  Interior seats are very comfy, and instruments are well within the driver's eye scan.  All functions were working well as they should.  A very groovy throwback in some ways, and forward thinking in others test drive experience.

Just a beautiful example in nice condition for this Boss 302 from 2013 with all the parts to take it back to factory stock included.  Harkening back to the days of earlier models yet contemporary in its racy design to menace the competition.  A few frowns in the Grabber Blue paint, but overall a lower mileage, well maintained muscle car throwback to its great history.  Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.
