1957 Ford F100 Pickup

1957 Ford F100 Pickup

There are certain things that people identify as being uniquely from the US like apple pie, football, muscle cars, and pickup trucks. These are things that, no matter where you are in the world, people are going to identify them as from the US. They represent the things that make this country a great place to live and make people proud of where they are from. Certain vehicles have amassed a legendary history for themselves and one of those is the pickup truck. These are the vehicles that are meant for working hard and playing even harder. There are a lot of great pickup trucks, but the Ford F Series is in a class all by itself.

For consignment, a Ford pickup right out of 1957! Owned by our consignor for the last 5 years and treated to a new engine 200 miles ago, as well as a new transmission, this truck is maintaining the looks of the original, but has several upgrades and modernizations to make it a very reliable classic. From our Hallowed overstuffed Halls to your garage and ready to take on whatever you throw at it, and doing so in 1957 style.

Exterior
Heavy gauge steel covers this classic with its high hood and FORD badge leading the way. Below we see single headlights which are surrounded by charcoal gray bezels and a charcoal gray and burgundy horizontal grille. Down further are the turn signals, which float just above a simple pristine gray bumper. The front quarters are tight and minding their gaps nicely and fall rearward to the straight doors. Just above these is a visored wraparound front glass trimmed in black. A body cab offers up plenty of room for driver and passenger(s), and nicely preserved round mirrors hang from either door and the doors sport clean dimple free chromed handles. On the exterior sills are Custom Cab badging written in your grandmother's handwriting and adding a nice touch. Behind the cab is the style side bed that features fairly straight slab sides with body bump outs that match the front quarter and frame the polished deep dish 15-inch wheels. On the back of the steel bed is a Ford badged tail lighting and another simple pristine chrome bumper framing the bottom. All this is bathed in a mix of charcoal gray paint on the lowers and burgundy metallic covering the upper body sections. This paint, while applied nicely is not without inclusions and some notable rust bubbling on the door and fender lowers. But don't glaze over that bed, as it is completely restored and finished in glossy charcoal gray steel.

Interior
Ditching the utilitarian look, the door panels are now shod in multi-hue gray vinyl for the lower 3/4's and nice body matching burgundy metallic and charcoal gray covering the top third. A black armrest, and high glistening actuators and cranks are also within this multi-tone field. Inside the first thing your eyes go to is the black carpeting flooding the floors. Just above is an original looking dash also in gray, but this time adding in some polished aluminum panels and knob bezels, the larger panel housing all the gauges which are courtesy of Dolphin and look just fab. A gray dash top in full metal jacket is above and below a horizontal panel for the knobs and pulls as well as the ignition key. Fronting this retro-modern dash is a new tilt column topped with a polished rally style steering wheel with a thick black rim. A new bench seat is shown as all black with smooth bolsters and vertical tuck and roll oriented inserts. Black seatbelts have been added to this interior for some extra safety. A black vinyl headliner is above and looking very clean. Also noted is a silver knobbed Lokar shifter growing from the hump.

Drivetrain
Under that tall hood resides a new, having logged a mere 200 miles Blueprint Engines 350ci V8 all painted and chromed to perfection. A pair of aluminum heads are bolted to the block and on top is a Holley 4-barrel carburetor and a new TH350 3-speed automatic transmission is new as well. A nicely painted black block with polished valve coverings and a chrome air cleaner cover is on top of the Holley. All is buttoned up under this hood.

Undercarriage
A custom side exit dual exhaust featuring headers and Flowmaster mufflers winds past the patinaed black painted black steel framing, body hangers, and floor pans for the cab. Leaf springs are on all 4 corners for the ride, and power front disc brakes and power rear drums are everywhere for stopping.

Drive-Ability
Slipping inside this truck took me back to a simpler time, that is until I turned the key it started up and settled into a lopey idle. There is some surging from the engine and after some investigation we noted a vacuum leak from the base of the carburetor. That aside, shifting was smooth thanks to the new transmission and braking bias free. All was working just beautifully, including the power steering conversion.

A great driver quality truck with a touch of hot rodding added in to make this truck able to handle today's modern traffic. Not to mention a looking good powertrain, custom exhaust, power steering, and power front disc brakes, turn the key and drive off the lot! Then start your show trophy collection.
