1932 Plymouth Sedan

Chrysler launched the low-priced Plymouth brand in 1928 to compete with Ford and Chevrolet.  Plymouth gained traction in the thirties using a combination of strong value coupled with clever promotion.  The PA introduced "Floating Power," a balanced engine mounting system that isolated engine vibration to provide "the smoothness of an Eight with the economy of a Four".  This move turned out to be a lifesaver for the Chrysler Corporation and many believed that the company could not have weathered the Great Depression without a lower-end model.  Being new to the low-end market, Chrysler relied on innovative engineering and technological advancement to make Plymouth's more marketable than the competition.  Not surprisingly, the plan worked well and the new and totally redesigned PA Model Plymouth outperformed the expectations of both consumers and dealers alike.

For consignment, we are about to set sail in a 1932 Plymouth Sedan come hot rod.  This all steel beauty has plenty of custom angles added to it for a more modern driving experience, but retains the original charm of the 1932 Plymouth look.  If gangster from the 30's is the look you are going for this car nails it!  I think I'll go out and cause a stir at the local bank before there is a run on it.

Exterior
The Plymouth line of Chrysler I feel has always exuded class despite it being looked upon as the lower end of the pricing gamut.  This rod has been lowered and the front bumper leads the way with a single chromed bar with LED turn signals frenched into the bar.  A tall chromed radiator surround is fronted by a curved bar with a circular headlight on either edge of the bar.  In the middle of the surround is a nice black radiator grid and topping the radiator is the perfect icon in the form of a chrome dipped flying naked lady and just below the Mayflower badge.  A nice curved exterior mounted fender is attached to either front side and is painted a contrasting blue to the overall body silver.  Inside the fenders we note an open cowled hood revealing the mill.  A bit more of customization to add to the visual in a two tone wood ribbed running board.  This would make it in the true sense of the word, (running BOARD).   Just prior to the rear fender is a rectangular exhaust tip exiting just below.  The curved rear fender takes over from this point and also just between the fenders is a blue painted rocker. This 2 door rod has nicely minded gaps and another blue stripe runs through the upper belt line of the car starting just above the side cowl of the hood and goes rearward in ever widening style.  All body work is silver and in the center is a red bolt of lightning which is apt given this car's Drive-Ability performance.   Tinted glass for the rear passengers which also includes a snazzy rear oval glass on that roaring 20's style roofline.  As the back of the car, as the body dives downward, it sports another dual lightning bolt in red within the silver field, and a gas tank just before the flat long oval rear bumper bar.  Teardrop tail lights are in the back centers of the rear fenders and this bar sports light blue flourishes just for some extra interest.  15-inch Billet Specialties polished wheels are wrapped in like new rubber.  Noted on that roaring 20's roof is a sunroof.  That's for after your heist you can stand up and let Benjamins blow out of your hands in the breeze as you speed away to your next hick town!

Interior
A swing of the doors reveals a wonderful padded triangular stitched pattern door panel in light blue and steel gray.  The light blue is vinyl and the steel gray is fuzzy broadcloth.  Some original actuators and cranks are on within the stitched triangles.  Seats are of the same genre, with more stitched triangles with steel gray inserts and light blue vinyl bolsters.  These are nice highback with no headrests, but are high enough that you will not need them.  The rear bench stretches from side to side and is shown with an overstuffed stitched triangle pattern. On the top of the seat is are small wood models of police birdhouses and aftermarket speakers are also mounted here.  The upper edges of the door panels are run-stained pine wood, and the headliner is a nifty stitched overstuffed panel blue fuzzy broadcloth headliner.  The dash also uses some of this wood for the front which has a central mounted aluminum ribbed art deco inspired instrument cluster.  Here a lineup of round VDO gauges in black face present themselves to keep pulse on the vitals of this car and below is a silver painted steel panel which has some buttons knobs and the ignition.  Above, within the headliner just north of the rear view mirror, is a wood box which houses an AM/FM/CD player and some more lighting along with the wiper pull.  Also seen is a GPS screen in the passenger corner of the windshield.  Clean blue carpeting covers the floors from which a Lokar shifter rises to the driver.  

Drivetrain
Under the open sided cowled hood sits a 350ci Bowtie engine.  It has Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, (6089)  and Edelbrock Air Gap intake, and Edelbrock air cleaner.   Inside is a Comp Cams solid lifter flat tappet cam, grind# CS2945-109  On back is a 350 Turbo transmission with a mild shift kit installed.  On back is a 10 bolt consigner stated 3.50 geared rear axle.  Nice powder coated headers flow out from under matte black valve coverings with “Trick Flow” badging on them.  This exhaust system includes a Flowmaster exhaust.  See ya Po Po!

Undercarriage
Very nice all steel, rust free environment underneath with a new fuel tank.  All 4 wheel power disc brakes and a Mustang II front and leaf spring rear suspension is now in.  

Drive-Ability
So in keeping with the theme if this car I test drove it like I stole it!  It rus just fab, with great handling, and smooth shifting.  All functions were all in working condition at the time of the test drive, and I experienced bias free braking, and easy power steering.  Very comfy inside, which is nice when you are trying to outrun the long arm of the law!

A real cruiser, hot rod, and muscle car all wrapped in 1932 Plymouth styling, nifty paint with some lightning graphics, flourishes and nice shiny chrome.  The 350 cubes with their extras added inside do not hurt either.  Totally custom but totally looking the 1930's part, which one has to love.  Honey, grab my machine gun...we're going on a bender!  Get In fast as this ship may have already sailed!
