1999 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

1999 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

Corvette didn't always call Kentucky home, however, in 1953 the first 300 were built by hand in Flint, Michigan, just after General Motors unveiled the Corvette as a “dream car” in the Motorama show in New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel.  The following year, production moved to St. Louis.  In June of 1981, Corvette production transferred from St. Louis to Bowling Green, Kentucky.  GM began production of the esteemed Corvette in Bowling Green in 1981, and the facility has remained the exclusive home of the Corvette for over 30 years.  Known around the world as America's sports car, the Corvette exemplifies the definition of innovation.

For consignment, a 1999 Corvette.  With over 70 models representing nearly every year, this is one of only a handful in house from 1999!  A not often seen fixed roof coupe that IS NOT a ZO6 version, an original 3 owner car, played with, then neatly put away for the next time.  Stored in a climate controlled garage up until 2021, this is a car that has led a good life, and is now offered for another's enjoyment.

Exterior
Near perfect Bright Red fiberglass is draped over the high performance chassis of this car.  Hidden headlights, and integrated bumpers provide the aero package that can whisk you down the highway with just a touch of the throttle.  A fixed roof that would become the norm for the Z06 package is seen and a still large rear greenhouse glass is creating a very racy roofline.  This style Corvette wins the award for best rear styling with the round embedded tail lights, and the quad exhaust piercing out the center of the integrated rear bumper.  17-inch multi-spoke polished wheels are upfront and 18-inchers are reserved for the rear.

Interior
Sporty Ebony leather buckets grab you as you take a seat inside the cockpit.  Black door panel uppers, with nearly every power control one could want border these buckets.  A black lower molded plastic with a large built in Bose speaker is under the curved pull handle/power toggle panel on each door.  The leather for seats is in good condition with a few wrinkles, and areas of wear, but far from terrible.  An active handling button, along with cruise control, a power memory seat, power telescoping steering wheel all wrapped up in a curved dash that presents very cleanly.  Black carpet floods the floors and is in very nice condition.   An oversized glove box is conveniently located just behind the shift lever.

Drivetrain
A well manicured 345hp 5.7Liter LS1 V8 is seen with a front flip of the hood.  This has EFI, and a T56 6-speed manual transmission attached. The 3.42 limited slip rear axle configuration is on to handle the power this active mill produces.

Undercarriage
Extremely clean sums it up underneath looking very close to showroom, with a touch of patina from just plain old enjoying this fine sports car.  C5 suspension is seen in the front as an independent 5 link design and in the back an independent design with a transverse leaf spring and metal matrix composite half shafts.  We note active handling, 4-wheel power disc brakes, and the factory dual exhaust with upgraded stainless steel mufflers.

Drive-Ability
An extremely quick starter, and runner.  This LS1 V8 can push this car very quickly up to speed, and due to the comfortable interior, it is hard to tell exactly how fast you are really traveling.  Overall a good driving experience, and smooth shifting for Tremec.  All the power options are functional, and the stereo sounds fab!

One of only a few 1999 Corvette's to grace our Hallowed Halls and the only fixed roof coupe currently in inventory, and this one is well cared for.  This was played with then nicely put away in a temperature controlled garage, well maintained, and is just a fun car to drive.  Nothing like being low to the ground and taking a corner like it is not even there...Wild!
