1932 Chevrolet Pickup

1932 Chevrolet Pickup

When in the consignment business, one sees prewar vehicles roll through our door, and they have been modified in some ways. Be it chopped, clipped, bobbed, channeled, hair dryer-ed, raked, ratted, shaved or any other number of crazy terms that people do to customize their cars, it makes one think…are there any good originals around anymore? What about the originals designs that excited the masses for the new model, or design at the local showroom? Well, look no further.

This restored original was painstakingly brought back to life after years of farm work in upstate New York. Every detail has been kept to original specs with most original equipment brought back during the restoration. The current consigner would use this truck to take his granddaughter on a drive every Sunday. No, they did not go to church on Sundays, but even further!

Exterior
All steel here on this BA Confederate, or Chevy Confederate, brought out in 1932. This particular model truck has many add on options such as the spare tire on the side with cover, dual chrome horns, a sun visor, parking lights, a chrome grille bug cover, and chromed vent doors on the hood. Blue over black fenders all in pristine condition covers the outside shell, and seams (as they were mostly overlapping at this time) are factory fresh. Running boards look as though they were never stepped on. A beautiful flying eagle radiator cap ornament tops the car off in the front. The rear of the car shows original Chevrolet fender brake lights, and a pristine bumper. A new oak bed has been installed and shows very nicely and has seen little use. Wire spoked wheels in brilliant yellow are on all 4 corners as well as the fender mounted spare.

Interior
The black and blue theme is continued interior wise with the installation of a black vinyl split bench seat with a solid back. Black gloss on the dash, and blue door panels, or should I say painted metal. Original gauges are clustered in the middle of the dash, and something rarely seen...a tube, (yes tube) radio which works is in the passenger dash. A wiper motor and wiper are installed, as well as a under dash heater. Floors are covered with updated but period design vinyl in black.

Drivetrain
An original stove bolt 6 inline engine is installed under the hood cowling and sports the big plugs to burn that fuel. A 3-speed manual transmission is bolted on, and otherwise the underside is clean and rust free. Simply laid out, with little but functional operating parts are seen underneath. 4-wheel drum brakes are within the wire wheels and are all functional.

A truly pristine restored to original 1932 Deluxe Pickup is not something you see every day. Especially one with all the extra chrome and add on options. 72,934 miles is what the odo says, but only true mileage is known by history. Either way it is a pristine driver that can be driven to a show and back home with trophies in the pickup bed!
