1988 Chevrolet Suburban Diesel 

The Chevrolet Suburban is a full-size SUV from Chevrolet.  The name started in 1934 for the 1935 U.S. model year, making it the longest continuously used automobile nameplate in production. I t has traditionally been one of General Motors' most profitable vehicles.  The 1935 first generation Carryall Suburban was one of the first production all-metal bodied station wagons.  It now comes with three engine options: a 5.3 liter V8, 6.2 liter V8  gas or (diesel special order).

For consignment, a large Chevrolet Suburban from 1988 in 2 wheel drive SiIverado package form, meaning has non leather seating.  This rust free garage kept version from 1 owner who painstakingly went over every aspect of this truck to have it stay in ship shape mechanically.  It all looks good while in the process of working excellent too, so see this version in our North hallway, and then take it home.  Wait, it moved to the south hallway!!!  (Bill, just let it sit so I can say where it is!)

Exterior
A Forest Green Metallic respray bathes all upper panels on this truck.  It has chromed front and rear bumpers,  some black trim accenting, and a dark gray/silver lower portion of the truck with some badging and a black trim piece.  A polished aluminum running board is in the rockers to aid in access and egress to this long and strong family hauler.  We note the beginning of very slight invasive rust under the green paint at the rocker pinch weld and some brushed on touch ups are noted in this area as well.   6 doors, and a third row seat are seen through the plentiful glass.  The dual rear doors give nice access to the rear storage area.  Silver painted 15-inch wheels are on all 4 corners wrapped in like new thin white stripe rubber.  On back a trailer hitch is installed for the camping or extra storage trailer experience, because after all you could have 8 people seated comfortably on your trip. 

Interior
Nice suede like gray broadcloth along with molded gray vinyl and some lower gray carpeting and several integrated buttons in the arm rest, make up the door panels.  These are all clean with slight smudges on the lighter gray broadcloth.  Inside, slightly darker gray broadcloth seats with a square polka dot tweed pattern covers the front buckets, second row 80/20 split rear bench and a third row smaller solid rear bench with armrests that has the ability to fold down for more cargo room is on the back.  The seats are all in very nice condition. and have the uncanny ability to be configured in many ways depending on your type of cargo/passengers you are planning on carrying.  The clean original dash is up front, has a wrap around aluminum plate dash front with round inset gauges. The factory radio and temperature sliders are to driver's right.   Clean gray carpeting is below, and above is a nice felted gray headliner.  Extra AC/Heat for the rear passengers is installed as an option on this truck.

Drivetrain
All expertly detailed, and very clean and well maintained as per the consignor, we see an original special ordered 6.2 liter V8 diesel mill.  It utilizes EFI and it has a 700R4 4-speed automatic on back with a 10 bolt 3.73 rear axle.  All looking very nice and tidy under this hood.

Undercarriage
A peppering of slight to moderate surface rust is noted underneath, particularly on the floor pan struts.  Independent coil spring suspension is on front, and leaf springs for the back provide the ride.  Power disc braking is on front, and power drums on back.  A stock exhaust is installed and looks to be without rust on the mufflers.  

Drive-Ability
A quick starter and good driver with a comfy ride, smooth acceleration and braking.  All functions were working just swimmingly.  And plenty of room to boot!

This Suburban suburban hauler can be configured in many ways, making it a very versatile truck for multi uses and plenty of room.  Decent paint in two tones, a clean neutral gray interior, and mechanically sound engine and drivetrain.  A nice example, turn the key and go..with 8 passengers to come along.
