1995 Chevrolet C3500 Pickup

1995 Chevrolet C3500 Pickup

Celebrating 100 years of Chevy truck history in 2018, the American auto manufacturer has produced over 85 million trucks in the past century. With two brand-new Centennial special edition trucks released to mark the occasion, let's take a look at some old Chevy pickup trucks to see how they have progressed over the years. Co-founded by race car driver Louis Chevrolet and GM founder William C. Durant in 1911, Chevrolet had its fair share of rocky beginnings. While Louis Chevrolet left the company in 1913, Chevrolet became part of General Motors in 1918, the same year Chevy's first truck was released.

For consignment, a 4th generation Chevy and is in Fleetside form with a long long bed, dual rear wheels and some snappy pastel side graphics with a mere 78,421 miles on the clock. The 4 door cab offers up an additional bench seat in back with comfy positions for 3 adults. Dual rear tires and a gooseneck hitch in the bed, as well as a hidden hitch behind the rear tag give you the ability to haul just about anything your heart desires. A former tow rig for a show car with extensive suspension work performed including air bags and some neat chrome wheels give you the opportunity to not only haul your show car, but also enter your rig and take home 2 trophies.

Exterior
Bathed in sinister black, all steel panels are looking fine with no signs of rust, invasive or of the surface variety. Upfront halogen headlights with a custom chromed bumper and integral fog light option below are on as is a standard black painted grille with chrome highlights. The crew cab option has 2 additional doors for the back seat passengers to have a seat with a view. Way back is a long bed covered with a black fiberglass flares for the dual rear wheels. Lining the bed is a plastic drop in liner and within this bed is the gooseneck hitch mechanism along with a polished stainless tool box. Lightly smoked glass surrounds the cabin and leading the way on the long ribbed roof are clearance lights, just like the big rigs have. A smooth black tailgate hovers above a custom rear roll pan with Corvette style tail lights below. Multi-colored pastel splash style striping starts at the front of the doors and runs rearward, slowly shrinking to thin stripes as it wraps around the back of the truck. To aid with a big pull, a hidden hitch is behind the rear license plate. Pitted and tarnished chrome star style wheels in 16-inch format are wrapped by good deep tread rubber. God bless “Merica!”

Interior
We can climb aboard and land our butts into a nice speckled gray velour broadcloth that is bucket configuration with the drivers position being power actuated. These seats have fold down armrests and inbetween is an oversized storage console. Climbing in the back reveals a sprawling bench seat in more velour broadcloth that provides ample room for 3 adults. A standard and original black dash front has all analog gauges, A/C and heat controls and a digital factory radio/cassette player. The remainder of the dash is in molded gray plastic and vinyl and is crack and fade free. We note the gauge and controls for the air suspension system residing within the ashtray, almost as if it was done by the factory. A fuzzy padded headliner is above and looking good, and the floors are covered in gray carpet that remains clean and tear free.

Drivetrain
Within the unrestored engine bay is an original 454ci V8. This engine is fuel injected and has a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission on the back. The 4 rear wheels are driven by a heavy duty Dana 60 rear axle. Some light rust and corrosion are noted throughout this engine and bay, but give the bay character and charm.

Undercarriage
Being so long gives us a limited view of the undercarriage as the truck simply won't fit on our lift. We note some surface on the usual suspects, but no invasive rust is to be seen. An independent suspension with airbags is on front and leaf springs and airbags are on back. Our consignor notes that a 6" drop in the front and a 9" drop in the rear was performed to the suspension and the rear frame section was reworked to allow the in the weeds stance. Power disc brakes are reserved for the front, and power drums for the rear and a stock style single exhaust system is on for the exhale.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter, and good driver and runner. Has plenty of power and comfy interior. The air ride was fully operational and it's nice as it allows the truck to be not too high to get in and out. Fully functional and ready to show or tow.

A good example of a 1995 Fleetside 3500 C version of a crew cab, air suspension, dually pickup. Lots of small custom touches add up to one real piece of eye candy. Go anywhere, pull anything, and plenty of room for all the gear while doing so, and when you get to the show you can enter your show car and your tow rig and pull a clean trophy sweep.
