2014 Cadillac CTS-4 Coupe 

The Cadillac CTS is an executive car that was manufactured and marketed by General Motors from 2003 until 2019 across three generations.  Historically, it was priced similarly to cars on the compact luxury spectrum; but it has always been sized closely to its mid-size rivals.  The third generation competes directly with the mid-size luxury cars. Initially available only as a 4-door sedan on the GM Sigma platform, GM had offered the second generation CTS in three body styles: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe, and 5-door sport wagon also using the Sigma platform — and the third generation was offered only as a sedan, using a stretched version of the GM Alpha platform.  The third-generation CTS's indirect successor is the smaller CT5, which, like the first- and second-generation CTS, takes on the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, while maintaining its 5 Series/E-Class size.

A first year of the third generation car that takes on a chiseled diamond look commonly referred to as the “Art and Science” design philosophy.  This car has OEM 19-inch wheels, bathed in menacing black, and has a few extras added on over the term of this 2nd owner rolling sculpture.  Shine on you crazy diamond!

Exterior
Cadillac has spent the last decade refining its signature "Art & Science" design philosophy, and this CTS family member reflects the most highly expressive manifestation of that look to date.  With bold edges, prominent “shield” grille treatments and vertical lighting elements that reach for the front quarter uppers, are all trademark cues of the entire lineup, the new CTS coupe expands those distinctive visual vistas by adding a more contemporary flair.  Longer and lower than the 4-door it replaces, the 2014 CTS coupe matches more refined proportions with an extra 1.2 inches of wheelbase.  Straight steel panels all bathed in Black Diamond Clearcoat with well minded gaps abound.  Note the paint on the CTS-V hood and front bumper do not match the rest of the body.  Tinted glass makes the car appear seamless.  Vertical tail lighting and a large central CHISML highlights the trunk edge with a nifty chromed central exhaust port in the center of the rear roll pan.  Those 19 inch wheels do a great job of showing off the red calipers on all 4 corners.

Interior
Racing inspired and sexy sculpting best describes the door panels.  These have black leather wide tuck and roll, some burl accenting, brushed aluminum trimming and molded plastic/vinyl as their motif.  Inside wonderfully luxurious black leather high back buckets with power switches, make these chairs nearly infinitely adjustable.  A simple but elegant curvilinear dash is in contrast to the angled exterior, and houses a redo of round gauges in front of the driver  Some burl accenting and a brushed aluminum central panel dives downward to create the center console.  In the top residing within the dash top is a large sound system display with bluetooth phone hookup capabilities.  This also serves as a back up cam screen.  In the back is more perfectly preserved leather 2 plus 2 buckets, while black carpeting floods the floors.  Plenty of convenience options expected of the Cadillac branding are on, and above is a power moonroof.  “Isn't it romantic…”

Drivetrain
Under the hood, reminiscent of German design, is very clean and totally covered with plastic.  You'll need the GM service department supervisor just to check the oil dipstick!  This is a 3.6 liter DOHC, (that's a mouthful), capable of 313 HP.  It has EFI and a 6 speed automatic transmission with a 3.73 rear axle.  Very clean and very covered!

Undercarriage
All clean as expected with McPherson strut independent suspension up front, and independent coil springs in back.  Power disc braking is pan all 4 corners and are sporting ceramic pads and slotted/drilled rotors

Drive-Ability
A bit like stepping into a spaceship with lots of technology, lots of convenience options and all in perfect working order.  This car drove like a chiseled dream, and will give any competition a nightmare.  Plenty of acceleration, bias free braking and all like new for this flight of writer's fancy.  MMMMMM llllleaaaaaather (Thx Homer J. Just a fantastic example of the Caddy sports car foray, looking great and if it had a gold band on the undercarriage you could wear it proudly on your finger, but for now just have it increasing your your garage's value exponentially, and turning in heads when you head out to the convenience store to get more milk.
