1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS

As a contemporary homage to the classic muscle car, the 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS followed the letter of the law, if not the spirit. The Monte SS was indeed a midsize car crammed full of big-car engine, but by '87, “big-car” engines just weren't what they used to be.

This Monte Carlo SS presents in nice clean condition. It has been well maintained, and garaged. All correct for its 1987 year options and add-ons are present, and correct.

Exterior
A menacing black covers the outside of this car. Red accents, and red painted on badging are seen throughout. A black skirt also in very good rust-free condition bands the bottom of this car. Headlights, brake lights, grille are all in good condition, and have no marring or bugs. A removable tinted glass “T” top is on this version of an SS and opens the cockpit up for a refreshing breeze. A Chevrolet Magnesium wheel option is seen all around, adds to a sporty look.

Interior
Red crushed velour bucket seats, with vinyl side and bottom skirts, as well as a red crushed velour bench seat 5 adults comfortably. A red vinyl console with a floor shifter is between the front bucket seats, and also includes the automatic shift lever, which is in a black plastic field. Dash is all original and in fantastic condition. Red cut pile carpeting, with no fading or staining finishes off the passenger compartment floor. Crushed velour vertical stitched, and vinyl as well as red plastic make up the door panels. Chromed electric window, lock and remote mirror buttons are also seen in each door. Everything is in good working condition!

Drivetrain
A 305 H.O. engine nests in an engine compartment that shows very clean. Topped by a Rochester 4-barrel carburetor and attached to a 4-speed GM Turbo Hydramatic overdrive transmission is under the hood. An independent front suspension, and coil spring rear suspension make up the drivetrain. Front disc and rear drum brakes are seen. A very good underside view reveals no rust on floor pans, side panels, rocker area and minimal surface rust on driveshaft.

This driven example of a 1987 Monte Carlo SS shows that a consigner can have fun using a car, as well as presenting it well when they have had their fun. Just 42,217 miles presented on the odometer proves this. All around very nice example of the Monte Carlo.
