1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL

In the 560SL, Mercedes got it all just right, offering essentially bullet-proof reliability, satisfying power, and aggressive good looks. The 560SL combined all that Mercedes learned about the V-8 R107 chassis cars into a cultural icon that quietly and confidently told the world its occupants had "arrived."

This 1989 560SL has conquered the test of time and presents well overall. Excepting for some leather wear on the driver's seat, and a power window on the passenger side that will not operate, this car is in very nice condition. Underside view shows a well-kept, garaged vehicle. If you are a Mercedes-Benz fan, and are looking for a good example from this era, look no further.

Exterior
Black pearl paint in good condition covers the exterior of this car. A matching hardtop comes with the car, and when taken off for photos, it appeared it had never been taken off! Lots of chrome brightwork around the top, and on the body of this car, adds to the bling look. American version quad headlights are apparent in the front and wrap around rear ribbed brake signal and backup lighting on the rear. Convertible top is like new, and as mentioned, appears to have never been used! A wonderful large tri pointed star centered on the grille hides the hood release and screams Mercedes.

Interior
Leather seats were standard (the MB vinyl was not available on the 560SL) and in this car gray is found. An optional driver's side airbag is seen, burl wood interior accents, an imbedded Becker Grand Prix Audio System, velour carpeting to match the seats, and a temperature gauge sitting between two air vents are installed on this car. No rear seat is present, and boot cover for when top is hidden is virtually new as well.

Drivetrain
A M117967 V8 engine producing 227hp, coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission drives the rear wheels from a limited slip rear axle setup. 4-wheel disc brakes, vented in front, and solid in the rear, are seen on a rust free and very clean underside. Dual exhaust allows the engine to breathe freely. Limited corrosion is seen on this car with regards to aluminum engine parts, noting that it has been well cared for.

A true classic, this 560SL has only been broken in at 125,000 miles. It is mechanically sound, and still has great get up and go. Very nice exterior, underside, and engine, with interior showing slight wear. A drive away from Classic Auto Mall car, that can be instantly enjoyed in one of 3 top configurations.
