1990 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

1990 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Zora Arkus-Duntov, (December 25, 1909 – April 21, 1996), was a Belgian-born American engineer whose work on the Chevrolet Corvette earned him the nickname "Father of the Corvette." He is sometimes erroneously referred to as the inventor of the Corvette, whereas that title belongs to Harley Earl. He was also a successful racing driver, taking class victories in 1954 and 1955 24 Heures du Mans.

For consignment, a nice example of a 1990 convertible Corvette.  This car comes with nice fiberglass body panels, hidden headlight 90's design, dual Magnaflow exhaust, nice leather interior, and locking wheel coverings.  I guess I should've known, by the way you park your car sideways…

Exterior
Dark Red Metallic drapes the fiberglass panels and urethane bumpers that are looking good with no cracks. This Corvette comes with the lowest angle windshield rake to this date, and appears to be moving forward, slicing through the air all the while standing still. The body styling is new for 1990 and is a ZR1 look. Hidden headlights, (now upgraded to halogen), a body matching black contrasting belt line molding, a beautiful and new frame and canvas black convertible top that hides itself under a black plastic molded tonneau. The top has a plastic rear window which shows slight smokiness. On the front quarters are the shark gill air intakes. A short rear deck leads the eye to a flat vertical rear panel which houses round tail lights, deeply inset into this panel. Standard turbine style 17 inch star pattern alloy wheels are on all 4 corners, and bringing up the rear are chrome tipped exhaust pipes. Vroom Vroom! I guess I must be dumb 'Cause you had a pocket full of horses

Interior
Pristine black carpet floods the floors and the back trunk area, and it is a deep, deep black, in very good condition. Black leather seats with rectangular inserts have padded bolsters all along the sides, sport a nice high headrest, also padded to the nines. A black center console/storage unit is planted between the buckets. This console has a glove box storage/armrest lid and houses the shift lever in a glossy stainless steel panel near the dash. As it rises to the center of the dash, climate control, AM/FM/CD player, temp control buttons and slider, and a data center with a screen to display information regarding temperatures and other key component warnings.  A digital display is seen in front of the leather steering wheel for rpm/speed and oil pressure/volts and fuel range. Controls for power windows, power mirrors, and cruise control are also noted as the doors close up to the bottom of the dash and the armrests match up to the bottom of the dash. Black molded vinyl makes the dash top and plenty of air vents are lined up at the top of the dash just under the dash top. But it was Saturday night, I guess that makes it alright, and you say, “what have I got to lose?”

Drivetrain
Under the front hinged hood sits a 5.7 Liter V8 which puts out 245hp. It is fed fossils by EFI. This rests within the engine bay which is very clean with an overall nice patina. 6 speeds for the manual transmission in ZF form is on back and power goes to the rear axle which has a 3.33 limited slip differential.

Undercarriage
Very clean, well maintained, rust free, structurally sound, undercoating intact on floor pans, no real leakage to speak of in engine/transmission area, and frame is unscathed..what more could one ask for!? How about 4 wheel power disc brakes  and the single fiberglass composite mono-leaf transverse leaf spring with unequal length aluminum control arms and stabilizer bar for the front, and fully independent suspension with half shafts, lateral struts, control arms, and transverse leaf springs for the rear. Say that 10 times real fast! Don't forget the shiny Magnaflow dual exhaust making its way rearward throught this well preserved undercarriage environment. And honey I say Little Red Corvette…Baby I say you're much too fast!

Drive-Ability
This car started right up and ran beautifully throughout our test ride. All was well, although we did notice the backup lights were not working. The tires grab like a tight grip on a baseball bat, and handling is like it's on rails!

A very nice 4th gen example of a Corvette, plenty of conveniences, with  that snazzy tech digital dash, curvaceous interior molded panels for the dash front and console, and stunning deep red metallic, black leather big bolstered seats, all buttoned up and cared for by this Corvette loving  consigner.
