1991 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
In 1991 Chevrolet created an identity crisis with the C4 model version. That crisis fueled by the standard C4 Coupe which this car IS vs the C4 ZR-1 high performance version that was virtually double the price, which this car IS NOT. Problem is there are very few visual differences between the two models with the price being the biggest difference!
This 1991 example, a C4 Coupe originally with an LT-1 Engine has had an engine change. Gone is the problematic fuel injection and replaced by a 1981 Block, which was bored over (.30) and other modifications which are described under Drivetrain. A removable top and an interesting repaint are among some of the highlights of this consignment.
The fiberglass unibody painted in deep black with multi spectrum large metal flake covers the entire car. Paint is in good condition. The large glass hatchback shows no cracks or chips, as does the rest of the glass. 5-spoke Americans Racing mag wheels are on all 4 corners. Silver inserts in the hood venting, as well as silver highlight painting on the hood scoop add contrast to this menacing car. Automatic flip around hidden headlights reveal themselves when light knob is pulled. Also new for 1991 were square inserts for taillights which are positioned under a matching painted rear spoiler.
Black leather bucket seats, which are in good condition, show the wear only time can create. Vinyl over carpet and plastic control housing is seen on the door panels and handles. These surfaces show wear. Black vinyl and plastic cover a center console, and have an aftermarket pioneer stereo system, as well as airflow controls installed. An orange digital screen in the center of the dash shows MPH, as well as mileage which is clocked at 117,243 miles.
As mentioned earlier, this car has had the engine replaced. Not a shabby replacement it includes a 1981 4-bolt main bored .030 over making it a 355ci. There is a Comp Cam and new aluminum heads. 780 cfm double pumper, Hooker Headers and Flow Master mufflers. A 2.59:1 differential transfers power to the rear wheels.
This 1991 Corvette shows nicely and has definitely been driven and enjoyed. Interesting repaint, as well as a better performing engine drop in, make this car a unique Vette. No, there are not matching numbers, and original everything, but a custom driver that still performs, and is within a reachable budget.
