1957 Ford Thunderbird

1957 Ford Thunderbird Roadster

Ad men from the 1950's described the car using such terms as “A Mink Coat for Father” or “Light of Hand” (referring to the ease of handling and steering) and “6AM Thunderbird Time” featuring a pristine suburban upper middle-class house, a jacket and tie husband leaving for work, passing the milkman on the way out as the family Irish Setter watches his master leave for work. Quintessential middle-class success, but they had to work for it.

Another pristine restoration example by the same consignor as our red 1957, only this time in Robin Egg Blue, and some added extras. As we have become accustomed to, the underside is just as beautiful as the topside. Much attention to detail has been paid during this restoration, and it creates an excellent example of a Ford classic.

Exterior
Robin Egg Blue, Blue, Blue and a healthy serving of chrome adorn the exterior of this classic automobile. No expense was spared in the restoration as only top-notch redoing of original parts, were painstakingly worked to perfection. Fit and finish is most likely better than when it rolled off the assembly line. The dark blue convertible top is in very good condition and the porthole window hardtop shows spotless condition. Beautiful chromed wire wheels with knockoff hubs are on all four corners and are framed by wide white sidewall 205/75R14 tires. An aftermarket addition of projection headlights framed by what only can be described as reminiscent of sunglasses Marilyn Monroe would have worn, can be seen.

Interior
A complimentary blue vinyl and Naugahyde combo cover the bench seat and make up the majority of the passenger compartment. Machined circle pattern aluminum panels are seen on the dash and door panels. Additionally, blue vinyl and Naugahyde make up the classic pattern in the doors. Aftermarket AM/FM CD player, and under dash air conditioning are installed, and the bench seat is operated electrically. Padded wrap around dash shows no signs of sun fade.

Drivetrain
A 312ci V8 engine with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor powers this car. The chromed air cleaner could double as an Hors d'oeuvre serving tray, it is that shiny and clean. A 2-speed automatic transmission takes the 215hp and puts it to the rear drive wheels. Dual exhaust leads the eye back to the rear leaf spring suspension and guides you through an immaculate underside view of the car. Double A arm front suspension with all brand-new bushings, and drum brakes are also seen from the underside.

Robin Egg Blue, Blue, Blue, this consignment, a stylish, luxurious, upper-middle-class cruiser is a car perfect to give your girlfriend, wife or mistress for in-town showing off. Exacting restoration standards, this car, considered to be the most beautiful design of all the 1950's Thunderbirds, is a beautiful example of Fords innovative design team's answer to the Corvette, as well as fending off the ever-increasing British sports car invasion of the US shores. All but perfect condition, your chance to own a car that brings truth to the statement, “It's often impossible to match an original.”
