2002 BMW 325 CI Convertible

2002 BMW 325 CI Convertible

The origin of the logo as a portrayal of the movement of an aircraft propeller, the BMW logo with the white blades seeming to cut through a blue sky, is a myth which sprang from a 1929 BMW advertisement depicting the BMW emblem overlaid on a rotating propeller, with the quarters defined by strobe-light effect, a promotion of an aircraft engine then being built by BMW under license from Pratt & Whitney. "For a long time, BMW made little effort to correct the myth that the BMW badge is a propeller" (quote by Fred Jakobs, Archive Director, BMW Group Classic). It is well established that this propellor portrayal was first used in a BMW advertisement in 1929 – twelve years after the logo was created – so this is not the true origin of the logo. In actuality, it depicts the clops of the Bavarian flag.

For consignment a 2002 5-speed manual version of the 325ci, and it's a convertible! Purchased by our consignor after spending 3 years looking for the right car to enjoy and so his son could learn the forgotten art of driving stick shift, fully serviced and ready to go this entry level German sports car is well preserved and maintained over the years and only 87,841 original miles…WOW! The car presents well and is very clean.

Exterior
The sleek aero sculpted steel exterior is bathed in Steel Blue Metallic which is all looking nice. Save for a few scratches here and there and a small dent it is looking in excellent condition. Nice tight gaps and aerodynamically designed grille and headlights, integrated body matching bumpers and smooth framing for the windows allow this car to slip right through the air that gets in its way going forward. The iconic dual kidney bean grille surrounded by some highlighting chrome is fronting the way otherwise the car is clean and free from embellishments. A black canvas top is on and is also in very good condition with a glass rear window. Nice 16-inch wheels are on in alloy form and wrapped by nice tires with plenty of miles left on them.

Interior
Gray leather covers the front buckets and rear bench which is a 2 plus 2 setup. These seats are all very clean and in excellent condition. Plenty of power conveniences abound inside with power adjustable seats, windows, locks and mirrors. Fitted into the gray center console is the 5-speed leather wrapped and wood knobbed shifter and the power window switches. As the console melts into the dash we see a litany of push buttons for the power top, seat heaters, and electronic climate control and resting above this technological marvel is a Sony AM/FM/CD player. The instruments are analog and digital panels and are within eye level of the driver behind the steering wheel and are highlighted by a nice wood burl inlay that stretches across the dash. This inlay also appears on the doors, adding some class to the molded and contoured gray vinyl. Gray carpeting is on the floors and all is very nicely preserved thanks to the very nice black and white Coco floor mats.

Drivetrain
German engineers just love plastic covering panels, and the engine has many to look at. Along with the power plant, which is a 2.5 liter inline 6 cylinder, and like the rest of this car is wonderfully clean. It is fed by EFI and a 5-speed manual transmission is within these confines too. A 3.46 geared rear axle rounds out our precision-built drivetrain tour.

Undercarriage
Underneath has a peppering of lightly corroded aluminum parts, factory original exhaust, and solid black undercoated floor pans. Amazingly only minor road dirt is on the suspension, (4 wheel independent), and is very clean for the cast parts that make it up. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners all pristine.

Drive-Ability
A fun driver with lots of power, rail-like handling, bias free panic stopping, and all working just great for all the functions. Shifting through the gears enhances the driving experience and makes you feel as one with the car. Sadly, the power top would not go down for our drive, so instead we enjoyed the chilly A/C while surrounded by leather bliss.

A very well kept and pampered, lower mileage toy in this 235ci convertible from 2002. Nice paint, clean light gray interior and plenty of power conveniences along with the benefit of a manual transmission. A glimpse of luxury/sport, and well within affordable range so the everyday driver can now be within reach of all price wise. Our consignor's son doesn't realize what he's missing!
