1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo
As any self-respecting Monegasque will tell you, Monte Carlo is the part of the principality that is the sparkling diamond on top of the gold ring. A famous casino, as well as an American car, are closely associated to this familiar name, and reflect opulence, quality and wealth.
Typically a garage find is a rare car and in questionable condition...but a rare example. A 1987 Monte Carlo is not exactly a rare example. HOWEVER a Monte Carlo from 1987 with 4,631 ORIGINAL MILES is a rare find. The consigner being the second owner, states that the original owner just avoided driving the car, because he found it so nice, he didn't want to get it marred, or damaged in any way. This ALL ORIGINAL car (although in full disclosure, the battery has been replaced) is in showroom condition. A time capsule if you will.
Dark Maroon metallic paint in showroom condition covers the outside of this car. Red accents, and red painted on badging are seen throughout. A black skirt also in original condition bands the bottom of this car. Headlights, brake lights, grille are all in showroom condition, and have no marring or bugs. Top is in original unfaded state and has only seen the light of day during a show into which it was entered.
Red crushed velour bucket seats, with vinyl side and bottom skirts, as well as red crushed velour bench seat 5 adults comfortably. A red vinyl console with a floor shifter is between the front bucket seats, and includes the automatic shift lever, which is in virtually perfect black plastic field. Dash is all original and in showroom condition. Red cut pile carpeting, with no fading or staining finishes off the passenger compartment floor. Crushed velour vertical stitched, and vinyl as well as red plastic make up the door panels. Chromed electric window, lock and remote mirror buttons are also seen in each door. Everything in showroom condition!
A 350CI H.O. (High output) engine sits in an engine compartment that could also double as a dinner table all is in (I know, I know!) showroom condition. A 4-speed automatic transmission, A frame independent front suspension, and coil spring rear suspension make up the drivetrain. Original tires, and 15” aluminum mag wheels are seen all around. Underside shows a little surface rust on driveshaft, but otherwise immaculate like the topside.
A book with original sales receipt, and window sticker, as well as extensive documentation and show awards comes with this car.
A true LOW LOW mileage car, well maintained, and driven or trailered only to shows. Multi award winning car, with only 1 fault as seen by this writer...the light bulb that illuminates the engine compartment is missing from inside the hood.
