1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevrolet Tahoe, and its badge engineered GMC Yukon counterpart, are full-size SUVs from General Motors, offered since 1994 and 1991, respectively. Since 1982, Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their 'Blazer' and 'Jimmy' nameplates, by introducing the smaller S-10 Blazer and GMC S-15 Jimmy for the 1983 model year, below the full-size Blazer and Jimmy models. This situation lasted into the early 1990s. GMC first rebadged the full-size Jimmy as the 'Yukon' in 1991. Chevrolet however waited until 1994, when they rebadged the redesigned mid-size S-10 Blazer as their 'new Blazer', while renaming the full-size Blazer as the 'Tahoe'. The name Tahoe refers to the rugged and scenic area surrounding Lake Tahoe in the western United States.

For consignment, the last year for the 2 door Tahoe from the bowtie company, well unless you want to search in Mexico where the 2-door continued to be produced. This example has been well maintained, has a newer stereo, tires and paint job all working to make this one very nice truck. An option loaded interior, a new Pennsylvania state emissions and safety inspection and a 350ci V8 under the hood, fire this one up and you can sing along with Julie Andrews to the tune of “Climb Every Mountain!”.

Exterior
This big 4x4 sports a newer exterior paint job in black highlighting the blacked out trim and tinted glass all around. A few inclusions are seen, and overall roughness is felt in the paint finish. Upfront a large grille sports dual stacked horizontal head lighting and a shiny bumper with a lower spoiler added on along with tow hooks. Flared wheel opening moldings are now on the sides to cover the wider than stock tires, step bars have been added for ease of entrance and exit, and in back a glass upper lift opening, and a lower steel gate allow access to the cargo area. Euro style taillights replace the original and flank the cavernous cargo area. Below all of this is a shiny bumper with like new rubber gripping for your feet on top of it. Up top in a sea of black we see a luggage rack ready to handle your skis or Kayak. 18-inch Mickey Thompson wheels are wrapped by extremely aggressively treaded Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires all around.

Interior
Behind that tinted glass are gray broadcloth highlighted door panels which share space with molded plastic and carpeting in matching gray. These doors are equipped with power toggles and buttons for the glass, locks, and mirror adjustments. The original GM dash continues with more use of soft molded plastic for the dash front surrounds, mixed with neutral gray molded vinyl for the remainder of the dash. Within the confines of the dash are full instrumentation within the cluster, the heat/AC dials and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo. Broadcloth gray buckets are in front of this dash and a large center console/storage/cupholder is between the seats. Gray carpeting is flooding the floors including the clean cargo area behind the rear bench broadcloth covered seat and up front we see the level to engage 4 wheel drive. Above is another plastic upper roof console in black with more storage and lighting for the front passengers. In back seen, within the gray headliner are lights to illuminate the entire cargo area.

Drivetrain
A factory 350ci V8 which is extremely clean and nicely detailed sits under the large hood. This has EFI, and a 4-speed automatic 4L60E transmission. 3.08 is the axle designation.

Undercarriage
A rust free black painted frame runs around the entire perimeter of this truck. Power disc brakes are in front, and power drums on the back. A single pipe stock style snakes its way rearward and exits behind the passenger's rear tire. Giving this truck its surefooted ride is an independent torsion bar front suspension and a leaf spring rear arrangement. Our consignor states that shocks were recently installed.

Drive-Ability
This truck and its 350 cubes fires right up and driving was a pleasure. All comfy on the ergonomic front for the interior, smooth acceleration, the 4x4 ability to go almost anywhere, and bias free panic stopping make for one great rig. All functions were operational at the time of our drive.

A well maintained final year 2 door Tahoe with some recent maintenance, a fresh safety inspection and a presentable paint job all make for one great rig that calls your name. It runs great and can carry you and a few of your friends and all of their gear easily. Get to climbin'!
