1956 Chevrolet Bel Air

1956 Chevrolet Bel Air

Imagine a car so popular that a new term came to be, based on that design. That name is Tri-Five, which refers to 1955, 1956, and 1957 Chevrolet automobiles, in particular the Bel Air, 150, 210 Sedans, and the Nomad. With beautiful proportions and new skins each of those successive years, and a thorough peppering of chrome, these cars produced in this time became iconic. From all original to highly modified versions, many Tri-Five clubs have sprung up to showcase individuality, originality, and the beloved Chevrolet concepts of Harley Earl and his team.

This 1956 Resto Mod Chevrolet Bel Air comes to us via a consigner whose longtime place of employment obtained it off of Barrett Jackson's block for his retirement. He has had years of enjoying the car, and now wants to own the third year of the “Tri Five” so is parting with this car. Well maintained, and some additional and recent upgrades added, this Bel Air is ready to cruise the street or pull into a drive-in for classic night.

Interior
Leather over suede in black with red stitching, makes the passengers feel like they are in the comfort of their own living room, and provides visual eye candy to the viewer. Door panels mimic the seats, and provide a fine mix of the comfortable materials, as well as soundproofing the interior from the distractions of the outside world. A suede headliner, and suede covered visors on top, with cut pile black carpeting underneath, the occupants will be searching for the television remote control. A red and chrome eyebrow style dash house new Dolphin gauges which have red pointers which float in white fields. A massive chrome steering adjustable steering column will fit virtually any size driver, and the laminated wood rally style steering wheel allows the feel of the road to infuse itself into your hands and provides a beautiful frame for the eyebrow gauge cluster. The back seats on these 2 door coupes are notorious for providing plenty of rear seat room perfect for “extracurricular activities.”

Exterior
Red with white accent paint envelopes the exterior surfaces, which appear to be in fair rust-free condition. Exterior chrome showers the grille area, trim accents, and lighting surrounds, and appears in good pitted free condition. Bumpers are original 1956 Bel Air style and allow for the viewer to perfect any “DA” comb job, or leather jacket adjustments, right on site. 17 inch 5 spoke American Racing chrome “mag” style wheels ground the car, and put it visually firmly into the resto mod category. Capping off the theme are blue dot rear brake lights, which will protect you from the person who will be behind you, and never in front!

Drivetrain
A 1970's era Chevy small block 350 V8 engine with Holley carbs connects to a TH350 automatic transmission. A positraction differential drives the rear wheels, which are stopped by drum brakes in the rear, and vented disc brakes in front. All brake lines and electrics have been improved, and master cylinder had been enlarged to improve braking performance.

A very nice example of a middle year tri five Bel Air. Interior is beautifully done, and a great powertrain upgrade, new paint, clean chrome, and an upgraded sound system, this car can be driven right out of Classic Auto Mall and enjoyed immediately. Excepting the mag wheels, the original exterior design of this 1956 remains. Additions of comfort such as air conditioning, a great sound system, a TH 350 Transmission, and new engine will not only wow the eyes, but your body as it is pushed back into the seat! “Were Gonna Rock Around the Clock Tonite...”
