2008 BMW 750LI

2008 BMW 750LI Sedan

The official founding date of the German motor vehicle manufacturer BMW is 7 March 1916, when an aircraft engine manufacturer called Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG was formed. This company was renamed to Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) in 1922. Aircraft engines, motorcycles, and automobiles would be BMW's main products until World War II. During the war, against the wishes of its director Franz Josef Popp, BMW concentrated on aircraft engine production, with motorcycles as a side line and automobile manufacture stopped altogether. BMW's factories were heavily bombed during the war and its remaining West German facilities were banned from producing motor vehicles or aircraft after the war. Again, the company survived by making pots, pans, and bicycles.

For consignment, a 67,571 mile long wheelbase version of the 2008 BMW 750i. With its utterly distinctive, aloof, and elitist look, all you can think of is pure automotive beauty when gazing upon this luxury sport sedan. Titanium Gray Metallic bathes the exterior which sports a sunroof, and on the inside is a medium gray leather interior. Purchased by our consignor in 2010 with 20,700 miles, only driven by him, garage kept, serviced on a regular basis, and with all service records dating back to 2010 we give you sport touring and luxury all wrapped up in one well-built German package.

Exterior
Nice tight gaps and an aerodynamically designed grille and headlights, integrated body matching bumpers and smooth framing for the windows allow this car to slip right through the air that gets in its way going forward. The iconic dual kidney bean grille is surrounded by some highlighting chrome and is fronting the way, otherwise the car is clean and free from embellishments. A smoked glass sunroof is installed and 19 inch wheels are on in alloy form and wrapped by nice staggered width tires with plenty of miles left on them. The wheels have some curb rash.

Interior
Stitched Gray leather adorns the door panels, seats, and center console. This mixes with wood appliqué from somewhere within the black forest, and molded gray vinyl. The seats are like new, high back buckets with headrests also in gray leather, and power adjustments. A nice original dash is upfront and houses all the essentials and is fronted by a tech savvy steering wheel with fingertip adjustments for phone and radio. Speaking of the radio, it is an AM/FM/CD/Satellite radio unit and also features factory installed navigation. A gray headliner surrounds the sunroof, and all is tight and tear free. In back a bench seat stretches across and has the option to seat a 3rd party or lower the armrest for two to travel in ultimate comfort. This rear seat area is where the extended wheelbase area was tacked on. An extra 5.5" of legroom is provided for the rear seat passengers so they can ride in full style. Light gray carpeting, presenting nearly new covers the floors and all is looking really good!

Drivetrain
Under the hood is the 4.8 liter V8 power plant capable of making 360hp. This is fed by EFI and has the 6-speed automatic transmissions on back. A 3.38 rear axle allows for a low gas using highway cruise. Everything is very clean under this hood.

Undercarriage
The Germans just love over engineering things and this undercarriage is no exception. Plenty of ground effect smoothing panels, and independent suspension is all around, and of course dual exhaust is on for the exhale. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners. We do note some wetness in the front of the car, possibly coming from the steering rack.

Drive-Ability
Looking like your average sedan but this car is anything but, this car handles like it's on rails. It smoked the test track, and I had to go around several times as I had so much fun, plus I thoroughly enjoyed all the bells, whistles and gizmos including the heated and cooled plus massaging front seats. The mighty V8 can easily break the tires loose when you get goosey with your boot and it also exhibited good solid braking, and tight steering and everything was working as it should.

A surprise performer, not because of the fact of it being a BMW, but because this is a driver's car. One to be enjoyed and be able to whisk your passengers to the country club with luxury and room to spare. It's no slouch when it comes to pure driving and certainly not underpowered with the V8. Nicely taken care of, it could be a great second car, and you can make it your daily driver or even your night on the town ride. You know, spend some time with the wife…well…maybe not!
