1993 Ford Mustang Notchback

Contrary to popular belief, there is no such thing as a 1964½ Mustang. Starting from serial No. #001 — the car inadvertently sold to Stanley Tucker — all the cars produced had 1965 VIN codes. There is a gap of 80,000 to 100,000 in the 1965 VINs around June-July 1964 that coincides with the switch from a generator on the engines to an alternator. The gap is considered by many Mustang aficionados to be the dividing line between '64½ and '65 models.

For consignment a car that has not only seen the street but also the track and has laid down 10.20 elapsed time passes. With a new engine with speed and power upgrades a plenty, this car is now a pocket rocket Foxbody Stang, with a sting. A built 408ci stroker V8 engine now graces the bay, along with a pair of racing seats in the interior, and Centerline wheels with huge rear tires, street lethal if you will.

Exterior
This specialized dual action coupe is painted in blue metallic and has straight steel and fiberglass panels which mind their gaps. A body matching integrated front bumper with a few chip offs, tinted windows with black surrounds, and some rectangular headlights, are framed by a large reverse scooped style hood with pins to secure it and some 5.8 badges thrown on for good measure. This hood leads back to a custom wiper cowl with twin scoops and mesh grating. Standard LX style wraparound tail lights are just below the pinned on rear trunk deck, and above another body matching rear bumper with some chips to match the front. Centerline racing wheels are on the rear and for the front we see MT 5 spoke racing wheels. The fronts are wrapped by skinny 165/80R15 tires, and one the rear 315/60R15 Mickey Thompson ET Street rear drag rubber. There is nothing unassuming about this little blue Fox, it's purpose is to do one thing and do it well...go straight and do it fast fast fast!

Interior
Framed with a 10-point roll cage, racing seats with 5-point belts, (an extra seat for the passenger side is included), and a litany of important monitoring gauges, and level indicators, this interior is all for the straight line. Black carpet covers the floors and the area where the rear seat used to reside. The steering wheel airbag is still there on the original steering wheel and fronts the original gauge cluster. A Hurst shifter sits directly in front of the dash and is within reach for the tire spinning. Wrapping up the interior are factory installed black door panels in black vinyl but still retaining working power window and lock switches. All business in here.

Drivetrain
The consignor stated 408ci V8 stroker engine now resides in the minimalistic engine bay. This block is adorned with Canfield aluminum heads with 2.05" intake valves, a custom grind solid roller camshaft. Up top is a Holley HP 4bbl carburetor feeding copious amounts of air and fuel through an aluminum intake manifold. Bolted to the back of this monster mill is a Trans Specialties C4 3-speed automatic transmission with a 9.5" Art Carr racing converter. Putting all that power to the ground is a narrowed Ford 8.8" rear axle with Moser 33 spline axles, a Moser Spool and a 4.10 gearset. I'm sweating with anticipation on the test track, which will be a straight-line version today! Buckle up, I'm feeling goosey with my boot!

Undercarriage
A ladder bar rear suspension with an adjustable coil over rear shock and spring conversion handles all the power you can throw at it to keep the tires planted. Up front a tubular K-member and coilovers provide the ride. Aerospace disc brakes are on all 4 corners to help you stop on a dime after your blistering pass down the 1/4 mile and headers send spent fossils through Flowmaster mufflers before ending in front of the rear axle.

Drive-Ability
It fired up with a thunderous roar, and our test driver who doubles as my sidekick decoder took her for a spin, and spin it did, especially for the rear tires. He said launching was awesome, and of course did not get close to any top speed, but it is reported it goes like hell. He certainly agreed with our consignor when he returned and said, "this car can run 10.20's easily".

Take a Fox body and spend the money on it to make it go straight, and you now have a super 'Stang, a Muscle Mustang, and a powerful pony. No stone left unturned on this one, an excellent build with super quality parts, and all for the purpose to smoke the competition on the straight line. Mission accomplished...this description will self-destruct in 10 seconds!
