1926 Buick Master Model 26-47

1926 Buick Master Model 26-47

David Dunbar Buick founder of Buick car mfg. stayed on as a director but left in 1908, never making much money from the enterprise. He died in 1929, reportedly unable to afford one of his cars. Durant kept the name for one of his company divisions and for the car, even though he worried that people might pronounce it 'Boo-ick', according to one author.

For consignment ,a very original car with plenty of patina, however in running condition but in need of what the consigner states as a “few odds and ends to make it street-able” however without being specific we do not know as to exactly what is needed.

Exterior
All bathed in patina black this 4 door sedan stands on 21 inch wood spoke wheels also in black. A little bit of rust can be seen on the hood and areas of chipped off paint and some rust are seen throughout. Glass is all clear and chrome headlight bezels and bumpers are in good condition. A canvas top is on the roof panel and a metal visor is noted on top of the windshield. The dogbone radiator cover has gone missing although the Moto meter radiator cap is still with the car.

Interior
Some water stains and slightly tattered mohair covers the door panels. Inside a tuck and roll overstuffed front bench is showing in dark brown mohair and has some areas of the mohair rubbed off. Another bench is in the back with plenty of legroom for the rear passengers. A simple dash in black is up front and is looking like the control panel to a coal plant rather than the typical dash with its interesting design. The original wood rimmed steering wheel is fronting the dash. More mohair for the top headliner and water damaged and some missing carpeting is on the floors.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 207ci inline 6-cylinder mill. It has a 1-barrel carburetor and a 3-speed manual transmission on back with a 4.90 rear axle.

Undercarriage
Underneath some surface rust and thick layer of road dirt are seen. It has mechanical drum brakes and leaf spring suspension. Body hangers and running boards show some rust accumulation but are remaining solid.

Drive-Ability
It runs and shifts smoothly, steering is a little tough and you'll need to plan ahead on braking, but it is in working condition.

These Buicks are fab when fully restored and this one does work and run but will need TLC. Not too many around anymore, but we have a working example right in our hallways.
