1953 GMC 3100 Pickup

1953 GMC 3100 Pickup

The 1953 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck is part of the “Advance Design” series of Chevy trucks. This was Chevy's first major truck redesign of the post-World War II era. Advance Design trucks replaced the AK series pickups. Advance Design pickups were sold from 1947 to 1955, during which time they were the top-selling trucks in the United States.

For consignment, a 1953 GMC truck which was converted to a Chevrolet by the Old Navy Clothing Store. It has been recently fully restored at which time the frame was swapped to a 2000 GMC Jimmy frame. It has a newer 4.3 liter EFI V6 and a 4-speed automatic transmission. A turnkey truck with a modern interior and beautiful bed looking just like 1953 in ship shape.

Exterior
Very straight rust-free steel wraps the exterior of this truck. It sports Chevy badging, all beautiful chrome and well minded gaps. The front grille is spectacular with its curvaceous horizontal ribs and single headlight flanking it on either side. A rounded hood and exterior mounted fenders stylishly frame 20-inch Camaro SS wheels. A small running board is below the doors and the steel for the bed is straight as arrows. All this is bathed in dark green which is like staring into a reflecting pool. Chrome trimmings for the glass are all excellent as is the glass, which is like new. In contrast to this green, a mahogany bed has been installed and it is separated by stainless mounting strips. The mahogany has a high gloss lacquer and is near perfection. On the back, new LED lights have been put on, and a C H E V R O L E T badge is embossed into the steel tailgate. Near perfection.

Interior
A swing of the perfectly balanced door reveals nicely restored door panels that feature saddle vinyl window surrounds and uppers, with green painted metal bottoms. A very nice bench with wide tuck and roll pleats stretches from door to door. Upfront a beautiful full metal jacket dash in green houses pristine instruments and an aftermarket stereo within the chromed ribbed center dash. A beautiful wood rimmed steering wheel with a shiny center rally style wheel is fronting the dash. Vintage A/C is neatly tucked under the dash, and this floats above very clean carpeting in tan.

Drivetrain
Under the hood now resides a 4.3 liter V6 with EFI. On the back is a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle.

Undercarriage
As previously stated the frame is a 2000 GMC Jimmy frame is all rust free as are the remaining suspension and drivetrain parts. 4-wheel power disc brakes are on and a shiny stock exhaust is running through this sound environment.

Drive-Ability
A true turn key truck with all working and running functions. Nice smooth acceleration, excellent barking and it drives like a very nice truck should!

Excellence has been achieved on this beautiful pickup from 1953. All surfaces are very nice, the engine is solid, and the A/C is a definite plus. I think I'll go for a roller skate on the mahogany bed.
