1986 Dodge D150 Pickup

The first-generation Ram trucks and vans, introduced in October 1980 feature a Ram hood ornament first used on Dodge vehicles from 1932 to 1954. Not all of the first-generation trucks have this ornament and is most commonly seen on 4x4 models. Dodge kept the previous generation's model designations: D or Ram indicate 2wd while W or Power Ram indicate 4x4. Dodge used 150 to indicate a half-ton truck, 250 for a three-quarter-ton truck, and 350 for a one-ton truck.

For consignment, a two-owner truck, purchased new by our consignors friend and having lived a mostly charmed life, is now waiting for you in our South Mallway. Used as a daily driver for its 1st year of service and only seeing snow once due to a freak storm when the owner was at work. Carefully stored in a garage for all but 6 months of its life and retired from daily driver duty after 1 year due to an accumulation of miles, this truck was primarily then used to pull a trailer during the warm months. With the increasing popularity of trucks in today's market this one is sure not to last.

Bathed in deep Black painted steel panels which are very straight and have well minded gaps and seams. This is seen on the upper and lower parts of the truck along with the added cargo cap and was repainted in the 1990's. In the middle silver is looking good and shiny, especially since it is mostly the original paint with the exception of a touchup on the left side of the bed when the truck was only a couple of years old. No rust within miles of this truck, and all trimmings are very shiny and straight with nary even the beginnings of any dimpling or fading. The front grille with a single headlight on either side uses square and rectangle design, the standard of the 80's and early 90's. Simplified, yet sophisticated, the grille is well preserved, as is the bumper below. In the mid-section of the fenders, doors and bed is a trim piece which is a wide black plastic textured bar, with thin chrome bands on either side. These trims line up near perfectly when you eye the sides from front to rear. The doors are straight and close with a quality thud, and sport large chrome mirrors on either side. The long 8-foot bed is wonderfully straight on the sides, has more of that black and chrome molding, a wheel well surrounded by bling. The bed is lined with a tuff textured plastic liner and this shows up on the gate as well and a body color matching cargo topper has been added. The rear exterior of the gate is looking like new as is the diamond plate pattern chromed bumper below. Standard 15-inch wheels are wrapped in black wall rubber and look just fab

Red broadcloth in a checkered pattern is seen on the bench which is nearly new with just a touch of wear on the driver's lower side and stretching the width of the cab. The edges have red bolsters which are smooth vinyl. The original Pentastar emblazoned steering wheel is fronting the dash, which is all original design, has wood appliqué panels and a trio of gauges. Power windows are added to the nice door panels and are seen in red molded plastic with a woodgrain applique. A/C has been factory installed, and nice red carpet floods the floors and looks like it just drove off the showroom floor. An AM/FM/Cassette/CD player with digital readout and a toggle to control the balance and treble is neatly within the dash as well and is a replacement for the original AM/FM/Cassette player.

Within the tan painted engine bay is more candy in 318ci V8 form with a 2bbl carburetor on top feeding it. Strapped to the back of this original mill is an A904 3-speed Torqueflite automatic transmission, and an 8-1/4 rear. All looking good with just minor dust and patina.

All buttoned up underneath with a solid frame and floors. Independent front suspension with coil springs is upfront, and on back are tough leaf springs with certainly no rust. Rockers are all solid and dual exhaust sends spent fossils safely away from the passengers. Power front disc brakes and drum rears are noted along with power steering. We also see a Safe Pull hitch assembly for hauling those tag behind loads.

This truck is clean and fired right up. It was off to the test track where it handled very nicely, and came to a straight stop, quickly. A real hauler with serious power, solid acceleration and smooth cruise at highway speed with little effort. A smooth ride for a truck as well. Even the A/C blew cold, and all else is near perfection.

With only a few faults found on this truck you'll have to look far and wide to find another one in as good of condition. Real straight body panels, a clean bed, snappy trimmings and a wide stripe, along with the bed liner, and mostly original paint. A popular year for the design all led by a big ram hood ornament living up to built RAM tough!
