1955 Ford F100
Highlights for Ford Motor Company in 1955 included a redesigned car line and the introduction of their new personal-luxury car, the Thunderbird. 1955 saw an industry-wide switch to tubeless tires.
As for trucks, changes were minor, most notably a revised grille and new exterior trim pieces. Power brakes became optional, as did a new custom cab truck option, featuring chrome "Custom Cab" door emblems. Engine combinations remained the same as the previous year. Although Ford truck sales were the highest since 1929, they were still second in sales behind rival Chevrolet.
Mid 50's F100 pickups are always a truck person's favorite. This 1955 version that we're offering is a really nice cruiser. For power this truck is all Ford from the 302ci engine and C4 automatic transmission to the 9" Ford rear-end. The engine is basically a stock Mustang but with an Edelbrock intake and carb and it sports stainless steel headers. The C4 trans is shifted via a 23" Swan Lokar shifter. The front suspension is MII style with tubular upper and lower control arms, power rack and pinion steering and big 11" power disc brakes. The 9" is suspended with coil-overs and a 4-link. All conversion work on this truck was done by a professional Rod Shop. The interior sports a beautiful grey and black roll and pleated bench seat, Teleflex speedo and tach and SW gauges to monitor engine function. This comfy interior also has an Ididit tilt steering column for stress free driving. This is one 55 F100 you'll want to check out.
