2003 Jeep Rubicon

It's All in a Name: Jeep is known for being the king of off-road vehicles, so it makes sense that the brand takes naming their individual models very seriously. When Jeep designed the Rubicon model of the Wrangler, the brand had difficulty coming up with a name that spoke to the ruggedness of its capabilities. After endless brainstorming sessions, the Rubicon name was finally chosen for the rugged new Wrangler. The model's namesake comes from the most rugged off-road trail in the world, the Rubicon Trail.

For consignment, a modified Rubicon from Jeep from 2003. This vehicle has a 3-inch lift kit, and an exterior roll cage with up top storage. 33-inch tires and Fox Hi Po shocks also it's a Tomb Raider Addition. Go for it!

Exterior
One of the most distinguishable traits of every Jeep model made is the signature front 7 slot grille with integrated headlights. As unmistakable as this design theme is in the Jeep brand lineup, it was actually intended to be used on Ford models. This consignment has silver paint on the body panels and we can see some chipping and scratches in this paint particularly on the doors. In addition to the iconic grille there is an upper bug shield on top of the hood, she has running lighting on the modified bumper which is deeper and has an additional bar protecting the grille. Fenders have an attached darker gray plastic trim on all 4 corners to prevent mud from getting on the bodywork. An exterior roll cage with a roof rack is protecting the canvas topped passenger compartment. Steel doors are on but are detachable if need be. On back taillight protectors and a hitch mount is seen along with another 33 inch spare tire. 16-inch polished wheels are on all 4 corners.

Interior
Swinging the doors reveals a black door panel in molded plastic. Black broadcloth seats in bucket form are in front, and a 2 person bench is in the back. Thin red striping is seen on all the seats in the center panels and red seat belts correspond to this stripe. A center console is in with a large storage bin that doubles as an armrest. A simple black dash front hoses the white numbered instruments and the blue LED odometer readout in the bottom center. Black molded plastic mixes with silver metal to make up the rest of the dash, and in the center it's now an aftermarket AM/FM/CD player/radio. Inside is another supporting roll cage wrapped in foam, and black carpeting floods the floors. Noted this is number 106 of 1000 units that were produced this year with the Tomb Raider Package.

Drivetrain
Under the flip back hood is a 4.0 liter inline 6 cylinder which is fed by EFI. An NV3550 5-speed manual transmission is on back and A Dana 44 4.10 rear axle is on. An NV241 transfer case switches you to 4x4 drive mode.

Undercarriage
As you can see from the photos the rear of the frame has severe corrosion and rust. The remainder of the undercarriage is showing some surface rust on the rocker mountings. Coil springs and leaf springs make up the suspension. Reminder, that a 3-inch lift kit has been installed.

Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and she fired right up and off to the test track. Here it did well, nice smooth acceleration, bias free panic stopping and smooth shifting. All functions were working at the time of this test drive.

A Tomb Raider Lifted Rubicon in silver with an exterior and interior roll cage(s) attached. A big roof rack, extra lighting and a small spurge area when you swing the spare tire away. Rock on!
