2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP
2009 Pontiac Solstice GXP
The GXP version of the Solstice debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in January 2006. It is powered by a new 2.0 Liter (121.9 cu in) Inline 4 Ecotec engine equipped with a dual-scroll turbocharger. The engine's output is 260hp and 260 ft⋅lb. This is the highest specific output of any engine by cubic inches in the history of General Motors at 2.1 hp per cubic inch, and it is the first gasoline direct injection engine from an American automaker. According to Pontiac.com, the GXP accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under 5.5 seconds.
For consignment, 2009 GXP coupe in rare low mileage form. The rare exterior color of “Fresh” Hydro Blue of which only 7 were produced, and a manual transmission of which only 6 examples were known to be produced. There were a total of 1,266 Solstice Coupes that were able to be manufactured before the production line in Wilmington, Delaware was shut down: 102 pre-production 2009 models, 1,152 sequentially vin'd regular production 2009 models, and 12 pre-production 2010 models. And this one has an PPM performance chip installed by a Pontiac dealer, when new, which adds an additional 30-40 horses to the factory 260hp designation. As for the low mileage… wait for it… 192 ACTUAL MILES!! My eyes are agog.
Showroom quality and condition all around and with a mere 192 miles how could anything be otherwise? Fresh Hydro Blue bathes the curvaceous delicious bodacious panels of this creation, which harkens back to the days of the classic Jags that raced the road course circuits in the late 50's. The design could also have been influenced by the Shelby Daytona coupe, from which it borrows some lines and proportions but in a more contemporary bulbous shape. In the aero department it's all buttoned up with rounded inset taillights just under a small rear spoiler, and inset turn signal/backup lighting possibly influenced by a Porsche 928. The mid-section top is removable but will not fit into the trunk, so you'll have to leave it in your garage before your trip. The curved rear glass lifts up for access to extra storage. 18-inch polished aluminum wheels are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in performance rubber.
A swing of the door and we slip into black leather high back buckets with red embroidered GXP backs and integrated headrests. These seats fit snugly into a molded plastic interior cowl that envelops the seat from the back, moves gracefully downward towards the console where it seamlessly joins it with a flip top storage space. As we move forward brushed silver ties into housing for the shift lever and then rises to the dash front where we see an Am/FM/CD/XM Capable/Bluetooth stereo system with 7 Monsoon speakers to please even the most discriminating of audiophile and have you saying whaaaaa? to your passenger when it's cranked up! In front of the steering wheel are a set of large round gauges with a smaller central round just in-between and above. Eyeball air vents and round climate control knobs are here as well. All this beauty sits in between sculpted black vinyl door panels which have an integrated door pull, and power windows/locks. In the back perfect gray carpeting covers the space under the rear trunk/window deck.
A 4-cylinder Ecotec 260hp DOHC EFI VVT Turbocharged with an additional 40hp with the added-on chip now in there too. A 5-speed manual transmission is on back which throws power rearward to a 3.91 limited slip differential. What was that blue flash that just went by???
Showroom 'splains it all with new independent SLA suspension (sport tuned), Bilstein shocks, power ABS disc brakes, and a stainless steel perfectly preserved exhaust. No road dirt, no runs drips or errors under here kids!
With such low miles we don't dare clock anymore although the decoder was present when this masterpiece came off the trailer and it has a beautiful tone to the exhaust, and it is all assumed functions are working swimmingly.
Low, low miles, beautifully designed, snappy mill, plenty of conveniences and a rare color and manual trans option on a low run car, and you are up to bat, just show up to our hallowed halls here at Classic Auto Mall and prepare to be awed! Wear your chin strap to keep your jaw from dropping.
