1935 Chevrolet Master Deluxe

1935 Chevrolet Master Deluxe

The Chevrolet Master and Master Deluxe are American passenger vehicles manufactured by Chevrolet between 1933 and 1942 to replace the 1933 Master Eagle. It was the more expensive model in the Chevrolet range at this time, with the Standard Mercury providing an affordable product between 1933 and 1937. Starting with this generation, all GM cars shared a corporate appearance as a result of the Art and Color Section headed by Harley Earl. From 1940 a more expensive version based on the Master Deluxe was launched called the Special Deluxe. The updated corporate appearance introduced a concealed radiator behind a façade with a grille.

For consignment we offer up the 4 door, all suicide style, in the form of the Master Deluxe. This car is in good condition, lovingly restored in 1989. Definitely a big car look with the long cowled hood front, curvaceous fenders, running boards, 4 doors, and hump back trunk. It has been driven in many tours and has been featured on Hamilton Coach Upholstery advertisements.

Exterior
Bathed in Coffee Ice cream Tan, the older respray is showing some minor rust bubbling on the body just before the rear fender. Otherwise, it is excellent and retains its shine from 1989. Chrome is all nicely preserved, although the door handles have become slightly pitted due to usage. Coffee ice cream steel wheels are all around, and this car has 2 oval taillights on stalks in back, with no turn signals in front. A wonderful vertical square pattern woven front grille presents like new upfront leading the way. On the back of the passenger compartment is an oval extra glass window that shows some delaminating. Way back a humpback trunk which has been nicely restored has an extra shelf between the spare tire and the storage area of the trunk. Bumpers are all looking good and shiny.

Interior.
Swinging the doors, we see light brown colored mohair which has some embossing as highlighting framing around the door panel. Shiny handles and bakelite knobs are abounding on these doors, and all have a small mohair covered armrest. This also has been used throughout as a covering on various parts of the interior. It presents in a natural color with no stains. The door sills are a faux painted wood grain which looks like it's real. Both bench seats are fabulously tufted and buttoned and sit in mohair tubs of the same brown coloring. Just like grandmother's couches for these chairs. In front a full metal dash has a mixture of black paint for the background, and faux painted wood grain for the instrument cluster panel and glove box door. The front split window interior sill trimming also has the faux painting. Wonderful, aged cream colored round gauges are in front of the big bakelite steering wheel all in black. Tan carpeting floods the floors and is mostly clean, and above is a nice smooth mohair headliner, all clean.

Drivetrain
Based on a totally rewired 6-volt system, a restored 206.8ci inline 6-cylinder engine is within the bay. As noted, it is very clean and rust free. A 1-barrel carburetor is on top, and a 3-speed manual transmission is on back, which pushes power back to a 4.11 rear. Noted is a shiny stainless steel oil bath air cleaner filtering the incoming air.

Undercarriage
An overall rust-free environment has undergone a restoration at some point as well. There is no presence of rust, and all underneath seems structurally sound. Independent knee action front suspension and leaf spring rear suspension can be seen under here as well. Also noted are mechanical drum brakes, and a stock exhaust.

Drive-Ability
A quick starter, smooth idler, and nice driver. All mechanicals appear sound, and the engine runs as smooth as it looks!

The beneficiary of at least one restoration and looking much like it did when that restoration was completed. With a clean undercarriage, restored engine, and 1989 respray it's all still good looking. All said, you are the beneficiary of this mechanically sound turn the key and drive away Deluxe Bowtie classic.
