1934 Ford Coupe

1934 Ford Coupe

The great thing about the evolution of hot rodding is: over the past 30 years a vast array of excellent products has continually streamed onto the market. And presently, anyone with a checkbook and an affinity for going way too fast and looking way too good can build anything from state-of-the-art avant-garde to old school cool.

This sweet Ford coupe, wrapping a modern chassis and body courtesy Classic Motor Carriages, and reliable V8 in show stopping aesthetics, is a ground-up build that combines the core strengths of original hot rodding with an uncompromising vision and top-notch componentry. And, if you're looking to score a fully sorted custom that mixes classic good looks with proven road manners, it's a strong candidate for your next street rod!

Exterior
A '34 3 window coupe Classic Motor Carriages fiberglass body covers a CMC frame. It is bathed in super shiny candy apple red and sports a nice peppering of chrome accenting. Finish is showing some cracking and seams along with dents and dings in the paint. This rod has been shaved of its bumpers and now has nicely chromed curved push bars. Chromed headlights that rest atop each fender, flank a shiny vertical ribbed swept back shield shaped grille that fronts the cowled hood assembly. Some carbon fiber decaling is on the front of the hood, next to the grille. A nifty laser cut 34 Ford side venting panel is noted on either side of the downward cowl. 17-inch Torque Thrust wheels all polished and pristine, are wrapped by 205/70R17 rubber in front, and wonderfully wide 345/55R17 rear fatties. Side exit rectangular exhaust peek out just prior to the rear fender, under the running board. HOT!

Interior
Starting from the windshield, a full metal jacket red painted dash with stunning white VDO gauges embedded within, and a matching adjustable steering column, topped by a gray leather clad 4 spoke LeCarra polished aluminum steering wheel, which allows clear view of those gorgeous gauges. The B&M shifter with an aluminum T handle, and black leather boot reaches upward for easy ergonomic shifting. A pair of low back buckets covered in black vinyl sit in front of the dash configuration, and this makes up the coupe 3 window cockpit. Black carpeting floods the floors, and these buckets cuddle up to the tuck and roll black door panels that cover suicide doors with remote power latches. Also below the dash is a 6-inch large screen with remote stereo. There is a carpet covered trunk storage area which presents very nicely, and has plenty of extra storage space and is manually actuated.

Drivetrain
Under the hood is a 350ci V8 small block Chevrolet mill that has a fab machined look. It has aluminum aftermarket heads, along with a Holley 670cfm carb in 4-barrel format. On the back is a TH350 3-speed automatic from TCI. Way back is a Ford 9-inch 3.50 rear axle.

Undercarriage
Underneath is all buttoned up with a square tube X frame supporting the upper floor pans, and underside suspension and mechanicals. A Mustang II front suspension works with rack and pinion steering that is power assisted by a GM pump. One back is a 4 link suspension with pan head bars. Headers feed a wide tube exhaust with Xlrator Mufflers. Power disc brakes are on all 4 corners.

Drive-Ability
She fired right up and all was a very nice repro bodied 34 coupe ride. A fast car to say the least.

Overall a nice presentation, with simplicity but elegance, conveniences, and ease of operation, (quick starter, power steering and automatic). A convenience rod, that can be shown, and shown off with little to no effort after driving away from our Classic Auto Mall Lot. Just a few faults in the paint in various areas but a very solid and very cool cruiser.
