1967 Chevrolet Chevelle Coupe

Like the Tri-Five Chevys that came before it, the Chevelle is one of those cars GM aced right out of the gate and continued to perfect. Eventually, the marque became one of the strongest brands in automotive history; and at one point, with a full list of body styles, options, trim grades, color combinations, and engines which ranged from mild to outrageous, literally embodied the 'custom built' nature that defines the muscle car era.

For consignment, a blank canvas in the form Chevrolet Chevelle from 1967. Consigner states that this is the original 283ci engine and Powerglide transmission, NOS quarters were installed along with a bevy of mechanicals being tended to and all work performed by an ASE Master & GM Master technician. Now ready for your finishing touches to make it your own.

Exterior
A professionally finished and primered surface covers this car on the paint front and new old stock rear 1/4 panels were installed 24 years ago. Nicely preserved chrome and trim very shiny and mirror-like is noted on the bumpers and all trim and molding pieces are included with the car. The deep B pillars frame the trunk and the rear window which is clean and rust free. On the rear of this car are corner wrap-around taillights that have a gray panel in between them which floats above the bumper. 4 correct and code dated steel wheels with wheel covers are on all 4 corners and are wrapped in thin white wall tires.

Interior
A long gold split bench glides between the steel doors, (new gold door cards are included), in the original cloth and vinyl which is showing rips, soiling, wear and missing sections. The rear bench follows suit in both material and condition. An original GM inverted V style dash is up front and has the speedometer, fuel gauge, and clock inserted in an area with wood applique' above, and gold metal below. The original AM radio sits in the middle of the dash above the heater control which leads back to a restored and detailed heater box. Painted black floors, which are rust free, are down below and a gold water-stained headliner hangs above.

Drivetrain
A correct and flushed out 283ci V8 is within a nicely restored engine bay. Complete with orange Chevrolet block and heads and topped with a rebuilt 2bbl carburetor this mill is looking almost as good as the day it was built. A recent tune up was done on the engine along with a re-cored correct radiator, rebuilt starter and alternator, and all new GM hoses. On the back is a correct Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission with new trans cooler lines installed. A 10-bolt rear axle rounds out the drivetrain department.

Undercarriage
A solid steel frame gives the backbone to the rust-free floors, all of which showing with surface rust, undercoating and black paint. Independent coil springs are on the front and a 4 link with coil springs round out the suspension. Power drum brakes are noted on all 4 corners and a new master cylinder, booster, front drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, and brake pedal bushings have all been done. Noted are a new fuel tank, tank straps, fuel line and sending unit, all good on the fuel end!

Drive-Ability
This car started quickly and ran nicely. All functions worked well save for the clock and radio, (a working replacement radio is included), and it has great acceleration and handling. The interior had plenty of room and was definitely comfortable even with the worn and torn seats.

With the hard work completed this car has the makings of a great cruiser or street terror. The exterior is ready for block sanding and painting and the interior, while complete, is ready for your personalization giving you a complete, solid blank canvas to work with. Definitely worth a look, and a really great year for the iconic Chevelle.
